https://x.com/geoffschwartz/status/1...YJXccxRIbYwg3A Have to agree that Wanya looked way better on the right side. He looked completely comfortably over there. I hope he starts at Pittsburgh to get more of a look at him. Get a look at him at RT in in Denver too. Getting a decent RT long term in the 3rd rd would be a huge hit for us |
Jeff Allen said Wanya looks like a natural RT. Hmmm
|
I was at the game so missed what happened here. Was Taylor injured?

Okay, usual disclaimer that we all love Andy Reid and what he's done for this team, but what in the actual **** has been going on in recent years at OT? How did Suamataia even get a starting job? How did they not realize that Morris was a far better fit at RT? They seriously couldn't have been that gung ho about it being Jawaan Taylors job when they were pretty open about the fact they thought he could work both sides of the OL.

Jay Glazer just said Jawaan has a mild knee sprain. Don’t think he’s gonna play on X mas with such a short timeline.
If Wanya continues looking solid at RT then I think you have to consider starting him there next year and telling Jawaan to get ready to play LT in 2025. |
Great. Gives Suamataia another year in the lab so they can really evaluate what his future is on the team while Taylor plays his last year out at LT.

People underestimate how hard it is to switch sides for a guy who has done it one way for many years. Taylor would be included in that.
It’s like asking someone to go from right handed to left handed. All your movements go opposite and the muscle memory isn’t set up for that. Thankfully we have a 100-game starter at Left tackle coming back very soon, and Thuney is at least a left side guy. |

But no matter how you slice it, it appears Wanya can be a legit RT for 2026 and maybe beyond. That would be fan-****ing-tastic for our roster build.

I’d at least take a look at Taylor over at LT in OTAs. He’s got the athleticism. If he could pull it off, you’ve answered both tackle spots for next year without even adding a body yet.
|
So Wanya has to switch positions and block the best defensive player in the league? Not ideal. He looked decent yesterday but that was a handful of snaps against a different level of competition.
|
Not like he was playing against chopped liver. Will Anderson Jr and Danielle Hunter are a very competent duo on the EDGE.

We’ll see how Wayna holds up after teams get tape on him on the right side. Remember, Niang, Wayna and even Kingsley had strong first starts until tape of their weaknesses got out.
But if Wayna holds strong? You have to at least think about putting Jawaan at the left side to open up our cap for other contracts. I have a feeling Spags is going to campaign heavily to resign Bolton, but if we could lock up McDuffie, too? Going with Jawaan at LT over Cam Robinson opens up possibilities like that. |

To be fair he did play some LT in college. So you can’t say no experience.
The thought of him at LT is because he has more of a LT game than that of a RT. |
If you take into account his penalties, calling him average is probably fair. But otherwise, isn't his pass blocking usually pretty good?
Nobody is asking/expecting Trent Williams. If his pass blocking on the left isn't much worse than the right, then that might be a good option given who KC has under contract for one year. Yes, it is an unknown how well he would transition if he had a full off season to commit to doing it. Maybe DJ will be an option next year, but that isn't a given either. Maybe BV makes a big move to bring in another LT. |

All of the talk about Taylor to LT makes for interesting speculation... but what if Humphries steps back in and performs admirably the rest of the way?

Again talking in absolutes just so you can be right will make you look foolish |

I suppose we can hope Humphries would go for a 1 year prove it deal, but if the choice is between Cam Robinson or LT Taylor/McDuffie, you at least have to think about it if Taylor can be at least Donovan Smith from the left side. |
Quote:
And can you provide the proof that he played "two games at LT" in college? :hmmm: Even if that was true. 18 snaps and two college games in his entire career is still virtually nothing. Fullstop. |
Quote:
That affords Kingsley plenty of time to grow into the role, and then we're golden for a 5-10 years at LT |
Quote:
1. Drafted Morris 2. Signed Smith 3. Drafted Kingsley 4. Signed Humphries 5. Moved Thuney to LT and not Taylor So if those comments were true, why have they not played Taylor at LT yet and chose all them other options instead? Folks need to do the maths. They see Taylor at practice every single day and never once tried him at LT. So why would they start now? |

Maybe our secret weapon?

But I'm not down with Kingsley as RT, they drafted him for the left and they need to just make it work... Heck needs to coach his ass off and really earn his paycheck on this |

If Taylor could play left tackle....he would have been playing left tackle. Either he refuses to or the coaches saw something and think he absolutely can't.

There's nothing wrong with the contract for a RT. His play has just been more middling. They paid to get a guy in the door because it would've been negligent to go into the draft or latter stages of FA without any stability at either tackle position. |

But it may be that they would only consider moving him with a full off season committed to it. The first year, they had Smith. The second year they may have been overly optimistic about other options at LT and didn't want to try moving him during the season. But given where KC is at, unless DJ is extended another year... |

Not once have I stated he should be the starter. I’m just not closed minded either way to it. You on the other hand are making up facts in your little head to prove your point. I just showed you were wrong. Now you want to pit me on the other side. |

This is why he’s making big money. He’s legit in pass pro. Got very little help yesterday. On an island most of the time.
Watt got a few Oscar worthy acting penalties though.

T.J. Couple costly penalties (nothing new) but he earned a lot of respect from me yesterday.
That was a great performance in a big game against an elite opponent, all while playing on an injured knee. |
TJ Watt got the star treatment on at least one of those holds.
Taylor should take it as a compliment that he reduced one of the best defensive players in football to flopping like a bitch for flags. |
