Sutton's defense is very specific about the corner's particular skill set. Both Smith and Peters play the game very similar. There just aren't that many guys out there that fit the bill physically with the talent level to play that position in the system.

You know what I would do? I'd start looking at attempting to get a trade deal done with Minnesota for Xavier Rhodes.

You want to see this thread flip the shit out? I'd call up the Vikings and offer to trade Travis Kelce for Rhodes and renegotiate a long term deal with Rhodes, who's locked up only through 2017.

That's fantasy land. The Vikings already gave a multi-year deal to Kyle Rudolph and Xavier Rhodes is their best corner. Reid loves good tight ends, especially with a skill set like Kelce. Would never even be talked about.

Rudolph is not Kelce by any stretch of the imagination and they need to give Bridgewater another option than Peterson and dumpoffs. They are a significantly worse version of the Chiefs offensively. Kelce would be enormous for them and Rhodes is a perfect fit for Sutton's defense and is only 25.

I'd make that trade yesterday.

We keep saying the same thing about how this defense requires a certain skill set at corner and that Sean Smith fits that mold so we can't let him go-- as if that skill set is not about to take a hit for a player turning 29? Like yeah maybe he'll be the same a year or two more but there will be better options when he's 31, where we'd be taking a 12 million dollar cap hit for him. He doesn't exactly have a lot of speed to burn either as he ages. I wish we could keep him a year or two more but a multi-year deal could really do damage to our cap situation for future players.

I hope you mean in February... Our offense might go to straight shit without Kelce right now given the depth there.

Sacofbats

Someone also pointed out earlier that this is an extremely deep draft for cornerbacks.

I mean yesterday like right ****ing now.

RunKC 12-22-2015 12:51 PM

Stephenson has no value here at all. He is a left tackle and left tackle only. He got his chance at the beginning of the year and looked good for two games and then went to shit. He can't play right tackle and the only reason he played Guard is because we had nobody, eland he struggled there too.

A versatile draft pick would be the best option here

That would literally kill any hope we have this season, but okay

ThaVirus 12-22-2015 01:05 PM

$6m will be around 4% of the total cap next year, no?

Keep Charles. Make his ass a Chief for life.

Sac you do realize that the CB class in this upcoming draft is well above average, if not maybe the best in the last several years, right?

Shit...I'm trying to make sure that Kelce doesn't fumble our playoff win possibility away.

Rhodes for Kelce right ****ing now.

Rookie schmookie.

Rhodes is a beast and Kelce is completely replaceable in this offense.

Syonara Fumbles.

BossChief 12-22-2015 01:16 PM

Where's all this talk of cutting Charles coming from?

He isn't going anywhere unless someone offers a premium pick for him.

We will have over 40m in cap space after the rollover and we give out signing bonuses that drop the first year cap number of any ltd we sign players to.

We will keep any player we want to keep and replace the rest.
