I cant eat cheetos, or doritos. Or anything with powdered cheese. Its a thing :/

Donger 05-22-2013 08:18 PM

Does anyone know if both are made by the same process, and then if something is added or removed from one or the other?

Both.

Yeah, bite me.

Puffy sucks. Puffy always sucks. Except with nipples. Puffy nipples don't suck. Puffy nipples get sucked. Puffy cheetos suck.

the right one, of course.

Crunchy, the puffy ones remind me of those packing peanuts that dissolve in water. Probably taste the same too, only I've never eating the packing stuff.

Poofy are baked, crunchy are fried. As far as I know, that is the only difference.

I can't get to specific, but they are made different. one is extruded through a die and baked, one is loosly dropped into a fryer.

rageeumr 05-23-2013 08:55 AM

People eat puffy chee-tos? I thought those were just there to cover up vacant rack space at the grocery store.

Yes they are. Aldi foods, along with Trader Joes, is from normal manufacturers, that relabel them specifically for Aldi.

Clancy's cheese curls, the Aldi Cheetos knockoff, is made in a Canadian plant owned by Frito Lay, who makes Cheetos. It's the same thing.

Strangely pleasant and fulfilling, not unlike a puffy Cheetos.

Jilly 05-23-2013 09:46 AM

Jalapeno crunchy is the best....but I voted for puffy. Here's why: The concentrated cheese on the smaller ones turns my fingers orange for the rest of the day no matter how many times I wash my hands. But if I were to eat the puffs (keep in mind, I don't really eat cheetohs ever unless its a snack emergency), the cheese tends to come off the fingers easier, hence making the puffs less of a commitment.
(I haven't posted in months and this is my brilliant contribution.)

Clear evidence that even some of the "puffy" voters really like "crunchy" the best.

True. Sometimes clean up factor trumps taste.

ToxSocks 05-23-2013 10:06 AM

Depends on the day. Mainly crunchy, but once in awhile the puffies hit the spot.

luv 05-23-2013 10:07 AM

Voted for puffy. Crunchy are fine, but I like the texture of puffy.

I try not to eat it anymore, but the cheese puffcorn is DA BOMB. Melts in your mouth. It can be a weakness of mine if I let it.

it was puffy. and it wasn't very good. and I've got lips like an elephant's trunk.

You'd frankly be shocked at how much product they throw out daily for various reasons. Truckloads, at the local plant alone.

:spock:

Why wasn't it very good? Did you get it before the cheese-like stuff is added or something?

What do they do with all the rejects? Cheetos land fill?

That's silly. They should put them in different packaging and sell them at a huge discount as "Cheetos Puffy - The Rejects." I'd buy bags and bags.

I like these

http://www.fritolay.com/assets/image...tra-cheezy.gif

You get a little bit of everything.

My kids really like the Crunchy Jalapeno Cheetos. I usually don't like jalapeno flavored chips (I think they taste like dirty socks smell) but these weren't bad. If I am going to eat spicy chips, though, I would rather have Doritos Salsa Verde or Kettle Chips Spicy Thai.

Then why would anyone buy the real thing that they are gouging you for?

You need yourself a hookup. Maybe Frito won't allow it, but here at a local candy company, they sell the rejects to the employee. A $20 5 lb box of twin bings goes for $5. A local cookie company here does that too.

I don't really buy a lot of chip aisle stuff, but I don't think I have ever seen those. I wouldn't mind trying out a bag with a few beers. Chex Mix Bold is also great for that. Really tasty stuff.

loochy 05-23-2013 01:07 PM

The big potato chip conglomerates are purposely keeping Cheetos down. Cheetos oil is proven to cure cancer and medicinal Cheetos can help people all over the world, but the big shots in DC want us to stay addicted to potato chips.

I noticed them yesterday at the gas station. I stopped in to get a bag of cheetos puffs (because of this stupid thread I just had to have some). I ended up getting the puffs instead, but I gave serious thought to getting the mix-ups.

There used to be a Kosher website that listed manufacturers of nearly all of Aldi's food so people following a Kosher diet knew the source and whether the food was "clean." It was a goldmine of information, but I haven't been able to find the site in quite some time. I know Aldi keeps it close to the vest, but in that case they gave the information to the Jewish group that ran the site.
