2 x 20 min half = 40 min = 1242

4 x 15 min quarters = 60 min = 750

More commercial time during a football game drives the cost per spot down maybe ?

I'm sure that's a factor somewhat.

We've been on the U a couple times at least already this season. But....we're not a perennial powerhouse like KU either.

Also, Embiid has like 7ft arms. Ridiculous.

I admit I am talking some shit right now but ESPN has definitely been making a push to put more quality games on ESPNU this season.

Here are their next six games:

Florida State at Pittsburgh
Arizona State at Utah
Oklahoma State at TCU
Virginia Tech at (5) Duke
Missouri at Georgia
Baylor at (19) Texas

TribalElder 02-22-2014 07:43 PM

KU games are their biggest get

Duke is pretty big

I don't know what games have already been on U but I bet tonight's was the highest ranked teams vs each other

Kansas continues it's elite status in college athletics with Class 1 certification of the new track facility. Only 105 of these tracks exist in the world, this is the 5th in the United States.

KU joins Oregon, Auburn and Arkansas at the collegiate level.

In order to be classified for IAAF Class I certification, Rock Chalk Park had to meet several tight tolerances:

• The cross slope of the main oval had to be less than 1.00%

• The downward slope of the straightaway for the running events had to be less than 0.10%

• The lengths of the 100m, 110m, and 200m events had to be within 0.010m of the proposed distance

• The lengths of the 400m had to be within 0.030m of the proposed distance

• Elevations and lengths for the report were measured to the nearest millimeter

Good luck getting anything that straight to come out of Columbia, MO.

You must be very proud of KU's measuring department. I don't know why, with such a huge accomplishment, you'd be concerned about Columbia, MO. Seems weird.

And if any of you haven't been following the construction stories coming out of Lawrence, boy they're hilarious.* First off the entire KU Athletics and KU Endowment Association portions of the construction were issued on no bid contracts to a local real estate/construction magnate.* There have been multiple articles in the paper here stating that the work that this contractor has done is not up to code, specifically the concrete being too thin in places.

So fast forward to today while out on site my guide tells me that there are places in the concrete for the stands that are so thin that you can literally punch through them with your bare hand.* To my untrained eye it looked as if the structure is already under considerable strain, and they haven't even finished construction yet.

This thing could literally fall apart and kill someone if/when it ever gets filled to capacity

Jack Vanier gives (ho hum) gift of $60mil. You'll notice there was no need to "partner" with the city to "lease" for 50 years on a (chuckle)T&F complex. (which i would love to run on. As a long time runner, I'll bet that surface is like air).

Cats just raise money and build.

$20 mil of the gift is for phaseIII of the stadium.

You might want to check the history of gifts to Kansas. Athletics are only a small portion of what the flagship university cares about.

Let's hope the opening night for phase three goes better than the last opening.

40$ of that 60$ is for professorships, schollies, and buildings. The flagship definitely recognizes that that there are other avenues for this type of gift.

Dish, Disney reach long-term programming deal -report
Reuters

March 3 (Reuters) - After months of talks, Dish Network Corp and Walt Disney Co have reached a long-term programming agreement that allows the No. 2 satellite provider to carry Disney-owned networks such as ABC and ESPN, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

Citing anonymous sources, the newspaper said Dish had agreed to halt its "Auto Hop" commercial skipping feature for ABC shows on its digital video recorder.

The "Auto Hop" service on Dish's DVRs allowed Dish customers to automatically skip its commercials, which sparked a lawsuit between the two companies. As part of the deal, ABC will drop its litigation against Dish, according to the Wall Street Journal, while Dish will delay the time it allows customers to hop over commercials until three days after an ABC shows airs.

A Dish spokesman declined to comment while a Disney representative could not be reached.

Disney and Dish's programming agreement expired at the end of September, but the companies averted blackout of Disney's top networks for the satellite provider's 14 million customers.

The deal, which the paper said was signed Sunday, includes digital rights for mobile apps such as WatchESPN. Dish will also carry Fusion, a new English-language news channel aimed at young people and the SEC Network, a soon-to-be college sports network from ESPN, the paper reported.

The report said financial details of the programming agreement were not known.

With lament, Stewart said, “We used to all sit there together. Now … a lot of changes have been made.”

Among those changes was MU’s decision to join the Southeastern Conference, which ended its series with KU for the foreseeable future.

Missouri “burnt some bridges, and it will take a long time,” Stewart said. “You’ve got to understand (KU’s) position.”

Speaking of which, Stewart admires KU coach Bill Self and said he has “a tremendous following” among coaches.

He is saying Mizzou is to blame for ending the rivalry with KU, as well as other regional schools. That is why he used the phrase "burned bridges". This phrase has been around a long time, and it's a very negative description of one's behavior.
