If the numbers OTC show are correct it is more like a 2 year. Significant savings being cut after only year 2.

Looks like they got their target with a sensible deal.

This is a good start to the season.

Also, why didn't we tag and trade OBJ?

I'm sure Veach shopped him and couldn't get any higher than a 3 with OBJ salary demands. We no longer are locked into him, and have that tension of the tag, and will most likely still get a 3rd round comp pick for signing elsewhere.

Where is the other $39M in guarantee in their numbers?

Urc Burry 03-13-2023 08:59 PM

Okay.. I was 100% sure he was signed to be our LT at the time of signing. But I’m not as sure after the contract details. I think that for sure it is on the table.

But then you look at the bread crumbs…
-It’s basically a 2 year 30 mil deal where you an eat 9 mil in dead cap to get out of it
-Our coaches really liked Wylie, and he signed a very reasonable deal with DC within a couple hours of FA
-The Tunsil reports happening 10 min before Taylor is announced

I think Veach really wants Tunsil, and hasn’t ruled it out. But isn’t going to trade away the farm to make it happen. We can feel comfortable going into the season with Taylor at LT if the deal doesn’t make sense

Edit;
• $19.5 million base for '25 becomes fully guaranteed in March '24.
• At that point, full guarantee climbs to $60 million.

So I think it’s a 3 year deal, but point still stands

The $18.9 signing bonus this year and the guaranteed salary is $1.1 is the first 20M. Then there is the other $20 M that is guaranteed in 24. The other $20 M is on that little memo under year.

It is all there and pretty obvious.

If he’s still on the roster on the 3rd day of the league year in 2024….then $20 million of his 2025 salary is guaranteed.

BleedingRed 03-13-2023 09:02 PM

If we got Tunsil now I’d be happy with off-season and ready to just go back to Super Bowl

So it's a 3 year deal then. That's a guarantee his 2025 guarantee kicks in.

I'm assuming there is a purpose to writing up a guarantee like that, but what is it?

Realistically all Taylor has to do is play solid here. Brown kinda struggled much of his time here the offense was still high flying

Excuse me, there was a memo about how good he did on a soggy superbowl field, please review that.

K.thx.

Brown was a liability on obvious passing snaps most games last year. Except the superbowl. And a handful of games where teams just didn’t have the speed to pressure him.

Orlando did his job for us and if his contract demands were reasonable, he would have had a good career in KC playing next to an all pro LG and a HOF QB that is hard to sack. I wish him luck in his career and hope he signs in an offense that plays to his strengths.

It’s exciting to have an athletic LT again, though.

Patrick's ready to drop back 15 yards again. ROFL

The jet sweeps, screens and a few others just got huge upgrades with Taylor over OBJ. The kid can move and they are a staple of Andy Reid. It’s why they took Fisher at 1. This is a big signing.

Maybe that’s for the voluntary practices and OTA’s at the first of the year. Those are not covered in the union agreement.
