Andy calls this a “one way play” and specifically mentions ‘Tiger 12’ which denotes Hardman. Am I misinterpreting that it’s either a shovel pass to Jet, or a pass to Hardman. Since the end crashed and took away option one— the only other option designed for this play was Hardman. The two TEs were clearing out, and not receiving options for this play.

I could be wrong.

We know Kelce is a guru. He read the defense pre-snap and post snap. Once he saw #33 shading inside and Ward sticking with him, he knew there was no one outside to cover Hardman.

Um, I was talking about Kelce standing in the EZ watching the play on the screen. In a Peter King interview Reid said it was designed for a shovel pass.

On Kimmel, Hardman said it was designed for him.

Either way, it is a play with 3 options (which makes all the 3rd & 1 plays that failed this year seem even worse) as it could be a shovel, a keeper for Mahomes, or the pass to Hardman.

They converged on the shovel, and Hardman was open. I am getting my info directly from the Andy Reid interview with Peter King, and my eyes.

If he could, he wouldn't have been available.

I would love to see us stash him on the PS for as long as possible next year.

Gravedigger 02-13-2024 08:48 AM

I was nervous throughout the game due to superstition, something that I hadn't heard people mention was the halftime performer and how that fares for us in our recent Super Bowl appearances and outcomes.

Super Bowl 54: JLo and Shakira - Win
Super Bowl 55: Weekend - Loss
Super Bowl 57: Rihanna - Win
Super Bowl 58: Usher - Win

I was telling my sister well when we have male halftime performers we seem to lose those games and when we have female halftime performers we seem to win those games. It looked bleak for awhile and I'm worried like most people who watched it but glad we bucked the trend. As per usual, Patrick DGAF.

Man, we really did it, didn't we? Just now, on Tuesday morning after watching replays all yesterday, starting to really sink in. What a great team we're blessed with. So many unsung heroes. Chenal, Butker, Justin Reid, and on and on and on.

We're so blessed to witness this, never thought I'd see anything even remotely like it.

We got some bad spots in the SB I thought and this one was bad. But we get all the calls.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profoo...-of-regulation

Quote:

Luckily, Super Bowl LVIII lacked an officiating controversy. The key word is “luckily.”

As explained on Tuesday’s PFT Live, the first play of the final drive of regulation in Super Bowl LVIII included a bad spot. A very bad spot. An egregiously bad spot.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes found tight end Travis Kelce for what seemed to be an 11-yard gain. Clearly, Kelce got the ball past the Kansas City 35, the line to gain for a first down.

CBS believed it. The graphic on the screen said it was 1st and 10, and the yellow line moved accordingly. However, the ball was spotted short of where the play ended. BY TWO YARDS.

It was second and one from the 34. With no one noticing the mistake. The fact that the Chiefs had shifted to no-huddle mode had something to do with that. Regardless, it’s a blunder that never should happen, especially not with a championship on the line.

Mahomes scrambled for a first down on the next play, so the mistake was inconsequential. But what if the Chiefs had failed on second down and then on third down and then on fourth down? It would have become one of the biggest controversies in league history. And it would have fueled speculation, distrust, and allegations that the game was fixed — which is exactly what Commissioner Roger Goodell feared in an age of legalized gambling.

That’s how we found out about it. Someone sent in an email suggesting that the Chiefs got a free first down from a short scramble on first down, without realizing that it was actually second down when it shouldn’t have been. It reconfirms that people are actively looking for evidence of foul play when watching NFL games.

Perception is reality. The NFL isn’t willing, however, to spend the money and/or to make the changes necessary to change perceptions, from hiring full-time officials to fully incorporating technology into officiating to embracing transparency and more.

Yeah, there should have been at least two automatic reviews in overtime. The catch by Ken Shamrock (I'm not spelling their fullback's name) and a play where Pacheco was spotted short when he clearly had the first.

I feel like the Ellis Island people aren't doing their jobs any more. In the old days, they would say stuff like,"Your name is Kyle Wrcsglktojka? From now on, it's Kyle Wilson."

Now they're letting guys in with no spell checks at all. "Your name is Agbar Okurabbblagimajiya-Stlmanishburya? Welcome to the USA, Mr. Okurabbblagimajiya-Stlmanishburya."

So strange. I feel like Ward was treated pretty well here?

I mean, nothing happened when Chase absolutely pink socked him for hundreds of yards and set a rookie receiving record.

He won a superbowl here, we didn't interfere with him leaving and getting paid.

Not sure why he would say that it's better in every way possible to be there.

Not sure why he would say that it's better in every way possible to be there.

Only thing I can think of is Steve Bono chose to make sure we know the restaurants are better.

Rewatching the game, I was surprised to see their longest play was 24 yards for the whole game and was in OT.

Yeah it was key that CMC longest run was only 11 yards. Only 3.6 ypc. Did a great job containing both him and Deebo all night, which we knew was the key going in. That D was so well coached.

It was said last week that Andy is a great motivator and hears what people say. I loved that he did the funniest thing ever and ran the same play as last year to purposefully score on Ward.

He put that man in hell. No choice but to cover either Kelce or Hardman bc of the fake handoff. Best own ever LMAO

Dante84 02-13-2024 09:38 PM

For anyone who watched Inside the NFL for the Mic’d up NFL Films stuff…

Did I hear Chris Jones say “last one in this jersey!” during his pregame speech?

ChiefsFanatic 02-14-2024 12:45 AM

Maybe this has been said, but I am rewatching the game, and on the punt that hit a player, and we recovered, the player it hit was number 28, and the player who tried to recover it was number 3.

28 & 3 are apparently numbers that just don't like Kyle Shannahan

Reid does an amazing job adding depth to this O line...

It seems like a lot of players that leave the Chiefs have some sort of bitterness towards them. I think they realize how special this team is and don’t want to leave, but have to and that sticks with them. It’s like they want to be paid, but paid by this team vs another.

The difference between good and great teams is depth. We lose an All Pro guard and still plug in someone else who steps up. That is only one position amongst many on this team. KC wins despite injuries because of depth while other teams can’t overcome them.

rewatching the game again, when the 49ers make the FG in OT, absolutely no cheering from any fans... They knew that was a death nail.

Even their sideline and the REFS knew it

DRM08 02-15-2024 04:50 AM

I wonder if Trent Williams is regretting his choice to stay with the Niners. The Chiefs offered him a strong amount of money. Factor in the crazy cost of living in San Francisco. He would have at least 2 rings if he went to Kansas City. And I’m not sure the money is that much better for him with the Niners.

Rausch 02-15-2024 06:44 AM

Even in regulation, when the Chiefs took the final possession, the 49ers looked shook. There was a shot of CMC where, if you hadn't known they just took a 19-16 lead with 1:53 remaining, you'd have thought they were down two scores instead. He looked so defeated.

Even with 16 seconds left in regulation, the 49ers just couldn't rest.. It's pretty wild to watch, in tight games, the psychological effect that
Mahomes having the ball last has on opponents

SHOWTIME 02-15-2024 07:07 AM

I think SF would have fared a lot better if Purdy had that killer instinct. Just looking at the Mic'd up of the 49ers, it seemed as if the moment was too big for him. He looked like he was hoping that someone else would make a play to win the game, and it wasn't just him on the Niners. I honestly like Purdy and wish him well in his NFL career (just not against KC lol).

Rainbarrel 02-15-2024 08:34 AM

The Raiders were the biggest hated rival in the AFC West. No one knows how Chargers fans feel. Though a Chargers fan did stab a Raiders fan at a game. Anyway

KC Chiefs may have just taken that away from them, in their stadium

Wow Deebo looks like he’s expecting the game to end right there.

And I love Reid on mic’d up after the Moody field goal in regulation saying “you really think that’s enough.”

I think he always wanted the 9ers and just used the Chiefs to drive the price up. He liked his teammates and presumably living in the Bay Area.

Maybe it's been posted before but I remember when people were downplaying how good Mahomes was because he had so much talent to work with. In the last two Super Bowls Mahomes has completed TD passes to Toney and Moore last year and MVS and Harding this year. Talk to me again about the "elite" talent surrounding him. Pat makes those around him elite, not the other way around.

It was always Mahomes. We had most of that offensive talent with Alex and never won shit.
