People also need to get off of this "rigged" or "scripted" shit.

I have rarely had anyone say anything about my Chiefs stuff on my truck.

They hate the Packers more.

It's not that it's Bucs fans, just anti-Chiefs stuff in general. I've had no problems yet, I'm just paranoid about it, especially as we keep winning SBs and I see more hatred for Chiefs on social media. Only takes one nut to ruin your day.

Why the Chiefs hats in TB??? Seems so weird.

Patriots ushered this in. Doug Flutey went on record claiming that they were speaking into the QB's headset well after they were supposed too (tipping off the QB on defensive assignments), video tapping, messing with the footballs, jamming communications, "tuck rule".

"“He was amazed that the coaches kept right on speaking to Brady past the 15-second cutoff, right up until the snap,” *according to O’Leary.“The voice in Tom Brady’s helmet was explaining the exact defense he was about to face.”"

That's not rigged or scripted... that's cheating.

Nobody claimed the league was scripted when the 49ers were hoisting lombarti's. This all started after the Patriot era. They severely weakened the leagues integrity. They tried to bench Brady and fine the organization but it wasn't enough. Now they've got millions of jilted fans convinced that it's the WWE. Bill Cower almost murdered some drunk fool in Baltimore over this.

I’ve worried about the same thing a little bit, although Orlando isn’t a NFL town and has a wide mix of fans. My personalized license plate is “MAHOMES” and I’ve worried about someone either taking it or screwing with it. I have yet to take it to a game, but I would probably remove it off my car in the parking lot if/when I do.

I think the correlation is with social media, not the Patriots.... if a million people spread across the country thought the NFL was rigged in the 70s, how would anyone know unless you happened to be sitting next to someone shouting at clouds at a bar or something?

I don't remember anyone in the early 2000s really talk about the tuck rule game being rigged, but I think at that time most people around here didn't mind since it ****ed over the Raiders.

Even today, I've never heard anyone at a game or out and about in the real world really talk about the NFL being rigged unless it's brought up as a topic of discussion (as opposed to a play happening on TV or while sitting at the stadium)... it's all on social media, which pushes it to mainstream media.

I've never had a truly nasty incident, just a few dirty looks here and there. Of course, I live in the Chicago area, and we aren't natural rivals with the Bears. I assume it would be completely different if I lived somewhere near Buffalo or Cincinnati. And I'd probably have a pretty short life expectancy in Denver.

A couple of weeks ago I saw an Eagles fan at a restaurant. He glared daggers at me, but didn't say anything. I just smiled. I may have snickered a bit.

Yesterday I was at the grocery store and passed a group of high school age kids in an aisle. Several of them yelled "Chiefs!" and "Mahomes." I smiled and gave them a fist pump in return. Then as they moved to another aisle I heard one of them grumble "Chiefs suck." That was funny. :D

Being a Chiefs fan outside of the midwest is like being a conspiracy theorist. You have lots to talk about but no one wants to listen.

He got the hook. It's not like he'd have returned, though.

If he truly was Midnight Vulture, then he wasn't ever a SF fan anyway. At least not back in 2009, where he claimed to be from a Dolphins site.

I don't know if this has been discussed somewhere, but I've been wondering, in OT, if we had got to a 4th down inside FG range would we have gone for it? If the thinking is to go for 2 rather than give the ball back to the opponent in sudden death, it seems like the same logic would apply. Assuming it's not a crazy distance, like a 4th & 25 or something.

Takes a good amount of time to take a bunch of video other people have produced and add coloring and effects to it that make it look worse than it did.

I remember talking to a Raiders fan at a BWW in Pittsburg, KS in the summer of 2018. Nice guy, but he was convinced that we'd struggle for a few years with Mahomes. I was like I dunno, our offense was already doing well under Smith, and this kid might come out of the gate playing well.

He was sure this was the Raiders' window to win the division.

I often think of how perturbed that guy's football fandom must have become the last six years, and smile.

That uniform (what little of it you can see) in the photo is accurate. He's a chief petty officer, not a commissioned officer, so there are no shoulder boards. The hat is correct, and there wouldn't be any sort of patches or insignia on his right arm. They would be on the left arm. And the SEAL breast pin is accurate. Ribbons/medals would be underneath that.

The salute is a little sketchy, though. Fingertips should be together.

Yep, for sure.

Everyone is conveniently forgetting Pat’s meltdown over losing due to a penalty when Toney lined up offsides.

And you're conveniently forgetting how many of us were saying yes, it was probably something that they normally give a warning first. But really, Pat should be mad at Toney for being a moron. I'm pretty sure most of us were in the latter.

I’m pretty sure we have video evidence showing Toney didn’t even look at the ref prior to the play to ensure that he was lined up correctly so this is irrelevant.

I understand Pat’s frustration but you can’t call Shanahan a crybaby for simply pointing out to the ref that our tackles do the same thing and to make sure they call it both ways while also making excuses for Mahomes needing to be held back while crying to a ref after a legitimate call.

exactly

I've had multiple niners fans (I'm surrounded) tell me how bad the reffing was (as a first comment, without blaming other things)

Their team is odd. No one seems to be an actual vocal leader in game and getting people fired up and talking through what they need to do. Kittle is on the sideline giving breathing exercises to a DB. Purdy looks like he’s just along for the ride. Warner seems kind of intense in game but he was literally crying after the Greenlaw injury.

scho63 02-19-2024 10:51 AM

I was thinking of this yesterday: a huge play that got no mention was Richie James hanging onto the punt and not fumbling when Chris Conley came flying down and blasted him across the chest exactly as he caught it.

While it seemed routine at the time, had he fumbled it probably ends very differently.

Agreed. That hit was absolutely brutal. And James hung onto the ball and popped up like he'd just been love-tapped out of bounds.

I think I didn't make my point clear.
Most of us were willing to entertain the possibility that the refs didn't give Toney a warning. And for me personally, I didn't see Toney check with the ref but I also noted at the time that the videos that were going around of this always showed right as it is about to be snapped. It is possible that Toney checked before what is shown in any of the videos. It would make sense since both Andy Reid and Patrick were super pissed about it.

All that being said, I still put the ultimate blame on Toney for being a moron. Kind of the same way as most of us put the blame on Dee Ford for jumping offsides in the AFC Championship of the 2018 season. I believe we learned after that incident that refs usually give you a warning when you're lining up offsides on defense, as well. in both cases, I put the majority of the blame on the players.

While it seemed routine at the time, had he fumbled it probably ends very differently.

Truth.

I was thinking about this the other day and the STs unit, in general. A lot of folks over the past couple of seasons say Dave Toub is terrible and we need to replace him. Yet, his units perform well in the biggest games.

Bolton got fined $8,000+ for the horse collar tackle on Purdy.

I watched the game pretty closely and thought there were non calls on both...and some bad spots that never got a second look / chains...

We won so it sounds corny but even when it was tied , and the outcome uncertain, I thought the refs did fine...

If I were in your shoes, I would have said to them,

"Bottom line: You guys chose to possess the ball first in OT. What was your boy Kyle thinking giving Mahomes 4downs each possession and the advantage of knowing what score he needed to achieve to win?"

They prefer their city sidewalks for that business.

that was pretty much what I said, along with ...

when the Defense holds Aiyuk Kittle, and Deebo to under 100 yards COMBINED, youve got more problems than refs... and are not giving credit to the Chiefs D

I also said something like: There were a whole bunch (20? 25?) of different moments in that game that were pivotal and game changing. The refs honestly were not anywhere on that list... and to be honest the defensive holding in overtime and the bad spots were enough to offset whatever "unfair" things that happened in the game ... I was happy the refs let them play.

Yeah, last year there was the fumble/incomplete pass followed by the helmet catch at the sidelines (I didn't have a problem with either one), the defensive hold at the end of the game... besides the defensive hold in OT last week, nothing was glaring.

I wonder if that one guy whining about the Chiefs holding a lot got into their heads... they started looking for it (only when the Chiefs had the ball, of course) .

But man, the refs were so much better this postseason than ever before... that defensive hold chapped my ass though.

I don't have a HUGE issue with this, but I was a little surprised they threw the flag. I would have guessed that a "horse-collar tackle" would require a "tackle" to be called.

When the rule was new, the tackler was required to fall on their target’s legs to draw a flag. The rules expert on the SB broadcast mentioned the officials only need to see the knees buckle during a horse collar these days.

It's an incredibly odd and specific amount. I'll assume they take a percentage of his Super Bowl check.

I guess Nick will have to stay in for a couple of nights and watch some Netflix movies to make up for it.

But it's not just the niners fans anymore...it's the whole league.

Look at JJ Watts comments today....and the plethora of other post SB articles that have appeared since we repeated.

It's like the world lost sense..

I don't think that should have drawn a fine. I guess next time go ahead and finish the tackle by ripping the guy down.

If you disregard the ending this video is pretty cool. Worth the watch I think. Only 11 Minutes.

It was jersey tackle more than anything, should not have been flagged at all, the cast /white glove makes it look worse like the hand got inside his pads

I don't know, or care, if this is Q. There are some great shots from our games. I loved the eyes of Mahomes when he did the pump fake against Buffalo, but there are so, so many great shots of our SB run.

All games are segmented, titled, I don't know what the actual term is. I may watch other games too, but right now I only watched our games.

I think Kyle is great at what he does but on key 3rd downs his system is easier to defend. He relies on manageable 2nd downs to do damage witb play action. However he's never had a good quarterback before. Never a franchise guy. Matt Ryan is probably close to it when he was OC in Atlanta and he made the guy an MVP.

Munson 02-20-2024 06:38 PM

Still can’t believe this was his overtime strategy.

Mahomes told Peter King that MVS suggested the play call, Slide Keys, on the 4th & 1 in overtime.

That's a cool detail.
