He is going to look reeruned soon.

Even you and I can hug this one out.

Main difference is you wanted to trade a 2nd round pick at the deadline last season for Brown who went for a pittance the next offseason and we won the SB anyway.

Food for thought. ;)

(Did I get the bitchy emoji use right?)

We won the SB so you can argue it wasn’t needed. I personally would never allow the offense to decay like that but time to move on.

I think this is a great signing.

I still think we draft a WR by #64. We'll need one within 12 months at most.

He does. Have some dawg in him, I mean. He's a fighter. One of the things you saw quickly when he was at OU. And yeah, I think it's a great signing as well. Need to keep him healthy, but if we do, he'll almost singlehandedly take the offense up a level. None of that decoy BS. Or a lot less anyway.

Whoever and whenever we take a WR in the draft, I just hope he's a legit outside guy, and not just some small burner type project. But signing Brown eases my mind about the draft by a lot, so fire away Veach.

PFF got this one right.

Hard to imagine a better fit of all the FAs out there at WR to give the Chiefs what they need.

He’s also dirt cheap by comparison. Very little risk, extremely high reward with a high likelihood of at least justifying what he’s paid.

How long has this dumb mother****er been like this? I know he's pretty much always been a stupid shit, but it seems like he's been especially bad recently and infects pretty much every thread with his obnoxious dipshittery.

Also he needs a name change because him using our Lord and saviors name in his username is pretty sickening tbh.

I also leave open the possibility that he fits in so well that this isn't the end and they extend him. Probably not the way the Chiefs play things but if he's rocking and rolling with Mahomes, keep that together.

Yup.

I’d love to see an extension midway through the year if he seems like a fit.

If we let him walk, we’ll just have to sign someone else anyway.

Can’t afford him in future years if he performs at a very strong level this year.

Probably not. I think Hollywood will have a very good year that results in a good market. Of course, this is his third team now and some teams might wonder if you also have to have Mahomes for it to work.

pugsnotdrugs19 03-15-2024 09:23 PM

Hope he tears the league up en route to the three-peat and sets himself up to get Calvin Ridley money.

But no it ain’t gonna be from us. We will be picking our next guy in the draft and head into 2025 hopefully confident in said player + Rice as a duo.

And we can collect a comp pick off Brown because we aren’t gonna be in position to sign big money FAs next year when we are focusing on keeping our own guys.

The Franchise 03-15-2024 09:28 PM

Just threaten to ban him. That makes him run like a bitch.

If he does that and plays like an Elite Vertical 2 there is no guarantee we found his replacement in this draft.

I only see Brian Thomas Jr as a guy with similar potential. Even if you like Worthy he’s probably gone too before we pick.

While I like the signing, I wouldn't put much stock into the PFF grade...seems like there isn't a signing they didn't like so far this year and they are handing out A grades like they are going out of style.

I am very happy that we signed him and I can’t believe we got him so cheap. Totally get that he came here for a ring, and to bolster his reputation playing with a great team, with a great QB.

But I do find it a bit puzzling as to why he would think he is likely to get the 1,000 yard plus season that he needs if he’s going after a big payday next year. Kelce and Rice are likely going to have 1000 yard plus seasons; it would be incredible if we got three receivers with over 1000 yards. But is that likely?. I think he’s going to be fighting hard to be our number 1WR. And a competition between him and Rice for that would be great.

Also, I think many of us are also looking for another burner WR in the draft, and possibly signing another free agent like Williams. That would make Brown’s challenge even greater

If he doesn’t have 1000 yard plus season he will have made a mistake in coming here, especially on the cheap. But it will still be good for us.

I am glad he is up for the challenge and thinks he can do it. I really hope he can succeed as we will then have a number one offence to go with our number one defence and a three peat is almost guaranteed. Well actually, nothing is ever guaranteed in the NFL but our chances are really good.

#1 offense and defense. A beautiful thing to imagine. Definitely possible.

I remember when the Chargers had the #1 offense and #1 defense and managed to miss the playoffs. ROFL

Having 3 1000 yd receivers has had 5 times in history and if anyone could do it it'd be Mahomes with Andy Reid calling plays.

The more I think about it, the more I love this signing. Dude has been a 1,000 yard receiver, and I don't think there is a franchise in the league that wouldn't consider him a starting caliber WR.
His career YPC is surprisingly low, which tells me that he has played with QBs who can't throw the deep ball with accuracy, yet he STILL manages to get yards with short and intermediate routes.

When you pair that with Kelce, Rashee Rice, and Pacheco, I think this offense is instantly going to be full throttle. Even more, it completely opens the draft up. We don't have to go for a WR in the first anymore, and we can actually take advantage of the second round depth at WR, because whoever we draft is 4th in targets at best.

We can move up, we can move down, we can stay put, we can take advantage of value with BPA or swing for the fences on a boom or bust guy.

Just a fantastic signing, all around. I really wanted Ridley, but holy shit not for that price. What a better signing this is.

I only see Brian Thomas Jr as a guy with similar potential. Even if you like Worthy he’s probably gone too before we pick.

In one of the deepest WR classes ever, you’re telling me there isn’t an ‘Elite Vertical 2’? Seems a little dramatic.

scho63 03-16-2024 06:58 AM

This poor guy would have to catch 150 passes for 2,000 yards in 2024 to meet the expectations being placed on him.

I don’t think he needs to hit 1000 yards and realistically that’s a very hard mark to hit. Realistically I think he puts up some games like 3 catches for 20 yards and games where he gets 8 targets with only 2 catches. And that’s tough if you’re juju but it’s what you expect for a weapon you get that allows you to take bigger shots. It’ll drive sports bettors and fantasy football geeks crazy. But everyone in the know will appreciate the contribution.

I feel like Brandin cooks is a reasonable ceiling and the numbers may not be eye popping but he’s had a very very profitable career all while being kind of a productive afterthought. If we plan to develop a speedster I think just like juju and skyy (yeah… I know) he will ease it. We could easily use a second speed guy in more of a gadget role or scripted passes early on as he learns a tough Reid offense. two speed guys can co-exist the way Mvs and Toney should have if they were actually any good.

It'd been a damned shame to deny Mahomes a walk-off TD pass in the second ever overtime in Super Bowl history. And just when we all are collectively thinking it's almost impossible to find new ways to pad his Canton resume.

Have been thinking about this all morning. Not much out there unless you're willing to take some risks, or bring back Jet.

You have anyone in mind?

What're your thoughts on La'Mical Perine getting a shot at the Jet role? IIRC, he showed well in his limited opportunities with pass pro to go along with catching the ball out of the backfield, and Spotrac shows him with a base salary of 1mil+ this season. I'm intrigued.

But I'd also give a Hollywood Brown type of ovation if we brought Dobbins in. He's only 25 and right in the Viotch Wheelhouse of Underrated Signings, to boot.

**** NO on Dobbins. He just tore his Achilles plus has 2 knee tears. He's not someone we should even remotely consider for any reason whatsoever.

Somehow, I wasn't aware of this or had completely forgotten about it.

Perine it is.

RunKC 03-16-2024 10:02 AM

Just bring McKinnon back if you’re thinking of Dobbins

RunKC 03-16-2024 11:13 AM

As for Hollywood, I think we can pay him. Kelce probably has 2 more years max before he exits. Give Hollywood a nice 3 year deal with a low first year cap hit in 2025 then hit big cap hits will be Kelce’s in 2026 on

It ain’t Mecole Hardman. It ain’t Skyy Moore.

So no guarantee you get one as a Waddle, Hollywood Brown, Zay Flowers aren’t lasting for your 3rd round pick just because you would like it to.

Yes, Brandin cooks would maybe be a good comparison model for Brown . But for Cooks to have had the profitable career he has he has generally had 1000 yard seasons. He’s fallen off in Dallas. But before that he pretty consistently hit 1000 yards.

I agree it will be very difficult and probably not realistic for brown to hit 1000 yards in the Kansas City situation. And that’s why I wonder why he agreed to come here and so cheap. I definitely hope he does hit 1,000 and competes with rice as top WR as it will be great for us.

I wouldn’t mind having dobbins if the entire contract is incentive based. No risk.

It's kind of funny. The Chiefs made two moves in FA and they were the biggest headlines bar none. But when you're going for a 3peat that's how it should be.

My impression has been different. What I've mostly seen is "Who Can Finally Stop the Chiefs after Free Agency Please GOD SOMEONE ANYONE PLEASE STOP THEM"

they need to have a heart to heart with Kelce. Explain that he needs to decrease his snap count so he’s fresh for the playoffs and brings that 3peat home.

The Quadruplets

Kelce, Rashee, Hollywood and Mahomes

**** Aikman, Irvin and Emmitt

It's also a double entendre for the 4th Lombardi of the era.

This makes me wonder if they promised Brown they weren't bringing in any other vet WR's that may take catches away from him.

I remember when the Chargers had the #1 offense and #1 defense and managed to miss the playoffs. ROFL

They were done in by their special teams. Fortunately KC also has one of if not the best kicker in the league and appears to have upgraded punter.
