Looks like he's with us until 2026:

If you cut him, you pay him $34m next year. If you want to restructure him next year to make room for others you can pay him up to $14m in bonus and down to $11m in salary.https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tools/ro...y-chiefs/2024/

If his play doesn't improve next year, they'd eat the 9mil dead cap in 2025 and cut him.

One would hope.

I was pretty happy when I heard we signed Taylor but I expected his price tag was only a little higher than Wylies. Figured it was around 10M when I heard the news then confusion set in when I found out it was 20M per.

I was thinking $15M. If he only cost $10M, I think Jacksonville would have kept him. $20M is pretty steep. Hopefully he can have major improvements next year in both penalties and blocking.

I basically agree with this. The penalties are frustrating as hell but you almost have to feel for the guy a little. After getting called out on national tv, he had to completely change the way he's played football his whole career. You rarely see him get the doors blown off like you used to see with Orlando Brown 3-4 times a game.

Jawaan Taylor is 13th in OT pass block winning rate per ESPN. It sounds like the penalties are problem not his pass pro.

Looks like he's due for a bounce back season

He been everything you could have expected besides the penalties, which have all been mostly bullshit. He has a lot of skill and is a tremendous athlete. He's exactly what this team would want in a tackle.

I just hope he can figure out how to wait a tick longer before the snap before he steps back. If he can't, it's going to cost him his career because the refs will be watching him like a hawk the rest of his time here.

He’s the Bret Saberhagen of penalized tackles

No one knows what the market was like for Taylor. The personnel department and Andy Reid (who many people here laud as a O lineman whisperer), thought he would be a tremendous upgrade.

Turns out Taylor and Smith can’t find a rhythm and some new focus on penalties really downgraded Taylor’s effectiveness this year.

He’ll be better next year.

Coulda fooled me against the Raiders, both OTs looks terrible.

Jesus. Well, let's upgrade LT and hope he recovers and learns to run block.

It’s probably more a mental thing than a physical issue but he needs to trust his blocking skills more and not try and live on the edge with his alignment and timing of the retreat. When you know you are under the microscope do everything in an exaggerated way to demonstrate you are following the rules.

The team is just not good enough to overcome a 10 yard penalty on nearly every drive.

It’s PFF, so it is what it is, but that is still nice to see regardless.
