Willie Gay suspension was pretty harsh as well when you look at other cases around the league. Paralyze an innocent person? No problem, 1 game suspension as a New York Jets player. Trash a vacuum cleaner? 4 game suspension as a Chiefs player. It seems the Chiefs are held to a higher standard than other teams. Just my two cents.

One thing about getting older is I have seen this kind of stuff before and the results are always different for what punishment is given. I shrug it off and wait for whatever happens. Nothing I can do about it.

I can definitely see Godell making an example of Rice leaving the scene in the way he did in this situation. 8 games seems harsh af (based on precedent of accidents of this nature, but not leaving the scene) but I’m not sure there is an existing precedent for leaving the scene. Gonna be controversial, for sure.

An 8 game suspension would be more severe than many of the recent domestic violence-related suspensions… not going to happen.
