Alright boys and girls...
I'm out deer hunting right now. (Rifle season) I have a pretty sweet setup, too. Sitting at the top of a hill with 4 canyons below me. It's almost Wyoming-esque out here. Hills, trees, canyons etc. My longest shot will be aprox. 400 yards. I wish I could load pics from the old B-berry so you could see my view. I'll load them up later. We showed up at 0530 and I got set up. Had to haul my tent-blind, shoulder bag, portable heater, gun and folding chair. It was a long walk but worth it I hope. The wind was howling when I got here at about 20-25 mph. Luckily, it's died down to about 5-7. Well, the sun is starting to rise, I'd better get to it. I'll keep you updated. Good luck to you too man. |
Got my buck yesterday finally. 15 yards away laying flat on my back in a patch of flattened shelterbelt grass. Longest story ever to tell you how i got in that position but the end result is that there's a 5 x 6 that will go near 150 hanging in my garage, along with the fawn that showed us where his body was.

My dad just got one. All I've seen thus far are 2 does. Suns up, starting to get warm, (finally). I guess he got a pretty big white tail buck. I'm hoping for a muley but I just wanna see some horns.

Just wanted to say good luck to you all. Especially you, Jerm. We snagged our own deer to years ago just north of Clinton. However, we did it with a Chiefs van. Kill all of those SOB's so they don't wander out onto the highway.

Big game is done for the year. Elk season ended on the 8th and I've filled my tags for deer.
I got this 3year old bull last Friday at 12:30 am. I was sitting on my pack eating a sandwich and he just came running down the hill to me. I had to yell at him to stop him at about 175 yards. One shot with a 30-06 and he made it about 30 yards. Of course he died in a big pile of buck brush with his legs up hill. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to dress quarter and butcher him out before the troops arrived to help me pack him out of the canyon. |
