Anybody recommend a good pair of binoculars? And a good scope for a Remington 700 .308 or 30-06?

I should probably get binoculars 1st and worry about a scope later. I won't be using the gun for a while. I could get binoculars in the $200 range before the discount. Any suggestions? They have plenty in my range

Not on binoculars. Anything not made in China is where I would start.
If you go China for your scope? might as well go Wallmart High Point. You can break it & they will always replace it no question asked.
Most hunting is done in low light. So I would go no smaller than 44 mill. Its about as small as you can go & still gather enough light.
I have 3 Simmons Aetec 2.8X10-44 all made in the Philippians. I hunt coyotes at night 4 or 5 times a winter. Fresh snow & a full moon /these scopes excel.

Might as well not buy binoculars If you can get good ones cheaper on ebay. I was looking at Nikon monarchs in the $300 range before discounts.

Defiantly shop around & do research/ Good new glass aint cheap. I cant afford new glass.
So I went to ebay & bought 2 1990s era Philippine made Atech scopes.
Simmons has since moved to China. :spock:

Winchester makes some nice Binoculars. I use them often. Check it out online.

Also,
Scopes are iffy. I have a Bauch and Lomb 6x25 with a low lite filter, range finder and 4.5 inch obj. lense. It ran me around 425 but I've never had a problem.
For what you're looking for, I'd say go with a Simmons or a tru-glow. They're both great. My Simmons is on my 7mm mauser and the true glow is on my BAR 300 win mag. They work great and are extremely clear.

Do not go redfield unless it's old redfield. The new redfield is shit. (China I think)

I've never shot-gun hunted. Do you use slugs or 00 buck shot?

Also, with "primitive" weapons (muzzle-loaders) advancing to the point that you can shoot them 300 yards, wouldn't you lean towards using one instead of a shotgun? I believe IA allows that.

buckshot is illegal. Slugs only, or muzzle loader.
