The reality is that he's here for another couple of years - he's definitely not so bad that you'd consider cutting him - so it is what it is. He's an average to slightly above average RT, and he's hardly our biggest concern on the OL. |
Thought he had a good day yesterday. Gave Mahomes a clean pocket for the most part going up against one of the best pass rushers in the game.
One thing he needs to clean up is tipping off passing/running plays with his stance. We had a 3rd & 2 yesterday that I knew was going to be a pass just by Taylor's stance. If I see it, I guarantee you the opposing team sees it. |

2 of the 3 holding penalties were complete bullshit. The third was a 'Well it's JJ Watt and sometimes he wins..." penalty. Taylor was very very good yesterday. |

Yeah idk how anyone could watch this and think Taylor was “awful”.

How crazy that Mahomes ankle + the quality of pass rush opponents + Hollywood coming back all the exact same time may have forced them to find what actually works consistently. LMAO
|
So the whole idea behind PFF and similar player grading is to not judge players just on stats, but to take in the full context of the play.
So a WR who gets wide open (but the QB makes a bad throw) gets a good grade because they did the right stuff within what they could control. Does anyone know if PFF or whoever else looks at the context of these penalties? Does a player still get knocked for a bullshit penalty? |
I still don’t have any issue with this dude. He is a really good pass blocker and half his penalties are bullshit. He’s overpaid, but that’s not really his fault.
If he was making 10 million a year, we’d all be fine with him. It’s just a position where you’re going to overpay if you can’t draft dudes. Not much you can do about it at that point except start hitting in the draft to replace him. Until then, he’s more than solid. |
Did Jawaan Taylor allow JJ Watt to kill Patrick Mahomes and did his play prevent the offense from being effective?
If the answer is no to both questions, he played great. |
Taylor with 14 accepted penalties against him this season, tied for second most in the league.
After he nearly set the single season penalties record last season. |

Is that too much to expect for the $20 million/year RT? |

TJ Watt is on a historic pace when it comes to sacking QBs. His salary is probably 33% greater than Jawaan's. |
