Jeff Flanagan: "Tyler Bray slow to grasp pro system"

In a puff piece on Aaron Murray, an interesting tidbit: Quote:

Mr. Tomahawk to his defense in 3...2...1......

Not real surprising.

I expect them to keep Daniel and cut Bray. |

They need to cut Daniel.

Like I said in the position battle thread, the best chance is that Murray is so impressive that he leapfrogs into the #2 spot, which coincidentally makes Bray more disposable anyway. It really just comes down to saving a small bit of salary.

So we cut Bray and keep two undersized QBs?

Lies!

They are the same ****ing guy with the exception that Daniel didn't shit down his leg with the regularity that Murray did. Anybody thinking that Murray gives you anything over Daniel is a reerun. Flat out, full on reerun. Murray was a ****ing waste of a pick. **** that guy. **** that pick. |

I'm on your side with Bray, but don't look to his size as some kind of saving grace... |

This may be their way of trying to slip him onto the practice squad.

Only way they keep all 4 is if they put Murray on IR. |

So why people are excited about pissing away a draft pick on a dude that is not even as good as our incumbent experienced clipboard holder is beyond me. |

That being said, I think the Chiefs keep 4 QBs. The way they've approached their entire roster, I don't think they like paying Daniel that much money but feel obligated until they find his replacement. Murray is very unlikely to leapfrog to backup this season. I think next year, Daniel is almost definitely cut if Murray progresses as we think he should. |
I'm a Mizzou fan and loved Daniel as a Tiger. However, He's making too much dough as a clipboard holder and zero potential as an everyday starter. The money can be put to better use as part of Houston's extension

But yes, it would be nice if Murray leapfrogs Daniel next season. |

No idea, no clue... be honest. |
If Smith goes down
Who would you rather have of the three. Anyone remember how good Daniel looked in the San Diego game? Anyone remember the name of his mentor - that short guy in New Orleans. Bray will be the odd man out. As he should be.

Damnit.
Fake a Smith injury, get Bray in there against a shitty defense and run some basic plays. He will Wow everyone, and we can flip him for a 3rd next year. |

Preseason is going to kick ass this year. Can't wait.
|
Or maybe, like some players. He needs to play to understand.

Kolb is undersized? |
Yeah, if the understudy has any real talent begging to be whittled into shape and brought forth, a HOF mentor is a great thing to have... but a turds a turd no matter how much of a genius his teacher is.

Even though its probably a lot closer to 6'2 212, he isn't exactly small. |
That's cuz he's a mouth breather

I believe they will he is an expense they don't need. I expect the QB order will be Smith, Murray then Bray. |
Quote:
But based on his size and measurables and tendencies at the same level, he is, at best, the same guy. And Daniel definitely had more poise at the college level. Murray did some really stupid shit throughout his career. I fail to see the reason why people would be excited by Murray when he's the same guy as Daniel with less experience and less athleticism. Plus his mechanics aren't very good. What do you get with Murray that you don't already have in Daniel? Nothing. |

There is not one scout that has said anything like this. |
I think Bray is slow to grasp life in general. If you've ever seen any interview with the poor kid, you'd be surprised that he survived life without a helmet. Tennessee must have some easy classes.

When God made Tyler Bray, he sacrificed a few of Bray's brain cells to give him better arm strength.
|
Why is Daniel this experienced veteran? The dude has made ONE start in his NFL career, and that was because his coach said, "Ehh, **** it. Why not?"
We're still raped six ways to Sunday if Alex Smith goes down. You may as well throw the rookie out there if it happens. |
Ideally, you bring 'em all in to TC and let them battle. You hope that another team loses a QB to injury and remember how well Chase Daniel played in that one game...and then you give 'em the Matt Flynn special, acquiring a mid-late round pick in 2015 to go along with all of the compensatory picks and high picks we'll have from a shitty season.
Smith, Murray, Bray. |
Quote:
Unfortunately some people are stuck on the notion that throwing a rookie qb in the game could/will ruin him. I feel that that notion has been dispelled. |
Quote:
I think it depends on the QB. |
Quote:

Murray is competition. There was 0 competition last year at qb with all 3 roles clearly defined. Daniel Bray Murray, no one can say today who will be the best come sept. At least we know reid will let qb's compete. Murray went against better D's in college than Daniel and ran a lot of pro style O instead of a spread. And I think he has a better deep ball than Daniel.

Murray with either be on IR or will be the #2. Daniel is on the bubble, not Bray.
|
It won't be Daniel who is cut. You'd then have no one behind Alex Smith who's ever taken a snap as a pro.
|
Quote:
The bigger issue here is people are acting like Bray is not a UDFA. Cutting him is not the atrocity cutting a 2nd or 3rd round pick would be. It's not like they've invested that much in him. |

Quote:
Cutting Daniel has no lesser effect on this team other than saving on the cap and getting rid of a useless pos who's only ever held a clipboard in his life and is making $3mil a year. |
Daniel has 1 start. He's not some seasoned vet. If Murray isn't on IR he's toast.
