I was expecting something a bit more... realistic.

What happened to Succop?
|
What was the name of the kid that did those cool Chiefs paintings? Chris something? It looks like one of his works of art...

Probably not the place for this question; but I haven't seen this person play. what is he? Is he another McCluster?

I'm very excited to see how Reid uses him on offense. DAT and Charles in two back sets are going to be a real bitch for defenses. And this kid is going to excel as a punt returner working with Toub. |
Q&A w DAT
When the phone rang and the Chiefs were on the other end, what was your first thought; how did the conversation unfold? "It was just a great feeling. It was strange getting the call, because during the Combine, during the visits and stuff, I never thought the Chiefs were very interested in me and when they called and learning I'm going to be a Chief, I got very excited and I'm just ready to get to work." It's your first time to Kansas City; what had you heard about the city and what are your thoughts, after getting into town? "I heard there's a lot of barbecue, which I love. I heard there's some great fishing out here, so I'm looking forward to that. Most importantly, I'm just ready to perform on the field." Were you able to see your mom on her special day, before traveling? "I wasn't able to see her, but she knows that I love her and that I'm thankful for everything she's done for me; I couldn't have a better mom than her." You met the Chiefs coaches for the first time; what did you take away from your brief conversations? "It's a great group and I'm very excited to be a part of this group and I just can't wait to be able to contribute." http://www.kcchiefs.com/news/article...1-813057015aae |

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/wZw4Cw8o3kY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Those passes that McCluster only took for 5-9 yards, are going to go for 10-20 with this kid with a real threat to take it to the house. He's our Tavon Austin except, unlike what happened to Austin in St. Louis, Reid will actually know what the hell he's doing with him. |
looks like he actually has to get tackled to be tackled. whereas McCluster could get taken down by a stiff breeze.
00:57. whoa.. |
The biggest difference between DAT and McCluster is elusiveness and ability to break tackles. DAT's change of direction is amazing while McCluster had nothing but that useless spin move to try and make defenders miss, and he's not going to go down every time he's touched either. We must value that ability to cut on a dime bc we got two of the best backs in the past two drafts in that department.

This guy's jitterbug juke is amazing. It's a full lunge that tricks almost everyone.

Look at the huge run at 9:04.
#7, Aaron Henry, Ran a 4.54 40 yard dash #14, Marcus Cromartie, clocked a 4.35 40 yard dash #12, Dezmen Southward, clocked in at 4.38 in his 40. What makes Thomas really special is how quickly he goes from 0 to 60. He has special acceleration with elite top end speed. De'Anthony Thomas had 2 carries in that Rose Bowl game against Wisconsin. He took them for 155 yards and 2 TDs. |
After watching those highlights, how the hell did he last until the 4th round?

The other difference between them is that Thomas is a far better receiver coming out of college than either Barner or LaMichael James were. He looks a lot more like Tavon Austin than either of those guys. Thomas is the kind of player that you have to have a plan for if you want to take advantage of his gifts. Reid, if his track record is anything to go by, is fully capable of doing that. |
The 1 arm tackle attempts in the beginning would have brought mccluster down. He makes defenders wrap up to bring him down not bad for 175 lb guy. I am not saying he is Jamaal tough but comparing him to a young Charles isn't a stretch. Charles is special so I don't see Thomas being able to have the carries he does but explosive weapon by creating mismatches like Charles does will be great.

Really just drives me up the wall that the same people that were pining for DeSean Jackson are worried about this guy's height and weight when they're virtually identical size.
|
Anyone who thinks this kid is not better than DMC is crazy. He will be twice as good at WR. Clearly an upgrade.

Also now his measurements say he is 5'10 |

McCluster's college highlights are just as impressive as Thomas'. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/8jvhA7hPT9I?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> If you want an apples to apples comparison, here is their NFL Combine numbers: McCluster 5'9" 172 lbs. Arms: 29 1/4" Hands: 8 3/8" 40: 4.58 Vertical: 37.5" Broad: 118" Bench: 20 reps Thomas 5'9" 174 lbs. Arms: 29 7/8" Hands: 8 1/8" 40: 4.50 Vertical: 32" Broad: 124" Bench: 8 reps The thing that worries me about Thomas is that his final season at Oregon was his worst in terms of statistics/production. Lowest rushing total, lowest reception/yardage total, lowest average yards from scrimmage, half of the touchdowns he had the previous season, etc. Thomas 2013: Rushing: 96 attempts 594 yards 8 TDs Receiving: 22 receptions 246 yards 1 TD Scrimmage: 118 plays 840 yards 7.1 ypa 9 TDs McCluster 2009: Rushing: 181 attempts 1169 yards 8 TDs Receiving: 44 receptions 520 yards 3 TDs Scrimmage: 225 plays 1689 yards 7.5 ypa 11 TDs |
Thomas injured his ankle earlier in the year and was kind of phased out of the offense. There's really nothing else to it.
