Investment thread spinoff: How much damage to your investments and savings?
As I check my 401K, my trading account, my savings and my Amazon stock, I'm down a good $30-$35,000.
This has been painful on a lot of levels. Investments, costs of gas, food, rents, lost gains. On a scale of 1-10, what pain level are you experiencing right now? I was about a 5 and I think I'm closing in on 6-7. How about you? :hmmm: |
Should only talk in percentages. $30k on a $1M account is nothing.
Down $30k on $100k is much different. I’m down about 15% on my investments but moved to mostly cash in many this month, outside of my 401k which I’ll just keep dollar cost averaging into. Timeline 25 years to retire at 60. |
I'm down about 12%
|
I was up about 38% about a year ago. So the change is about 50% from peak.
I got 3 years until I retire |

I moved mine to bonds in November so I’m down about 7% YTD |
Moving this thread to email alerts so I can see when MTG posts.

i'm safe from all this cause I'm in crypto!

Can't damage my savings if I don't have anything saved.

My 401k took an relatively minor hit. I'm down about 6%.
We'll be fine. |
I'm -17% YTD, but I'm mostly in S&P funds, so that's actually a bit better than I'd expected (since the S&P is currently -20% or so). C'est la vie. I won't touch it for 25 years anyway.

roughly 35 - 40% on what i'm still currently invested in. but i sold off the majority of my portfolio a while back and converted it into cash. been patiently waiting for when i feel a bottom has been found.
|
Bloodbath - a lot of red. Down nearly 20%.
|
My Webull account is up 165.7% since I opened it April 6th. Just completed another trade this morning 11.55% gain
My Etrade account is down around 50% from a year ago. But currently I'm now about 20% cash and using that to swing trades now that I have a system figured out that works. I'm already retired and living off rental income so it's all play money but losing is still no fun . |
If you are retired, the downswings aren't fun. If you aren't there yet, you can just get more value from the dip. Don't get me wrong, I never want to see it go down. I'm just not overly concerned because I still have a ways to go.
With all that said, I'm down 55k from the end of December. |
Dude. hog. You’re killing it. I keep saying it and you keep killing it.
