I always kinda questioned his ceiling; seemed like he'd be a #2 starter on his best day. Someone who might have one of those Sonny Gray sort of remarkable career seasons but otherwise just be a steady 2/3 arm in a rotation.
Looks like that's about where he's heading at the moment. What's really come into focus is his command. And the fact that he can throw a slider without losing the feel for his curve (which is more rare than you'd think).
He looks good out there. And it looks mostly sustainable. We'll see what happens when the league adjusts, but this is the first real progress we've seen from a young cardinal SP in quite some time.
