Beloved: Your Favorite Chiefs. Round 1, Heat 2. Receivers

Heat 1 and the rules are here: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=290643

This will be the first of four heats at the receiver position, including both wide receivers and tight ends.

Pick your three favorites. Not the best players, but your favorites, based on the field, off the field, personality, style, whatever.

Okay, this is a weak heat, but here goes:

#1 - Walter White. No one will remember him, but he came out of nowhere when the Chiefs were terrible, and was a very good player. I thought he had great potential, but I think he blew out a knee or something and disappeared pretty quickly. But he gave me great hope and enjoyment at a very dark time in Chiefs history.

#2 - Andre Rison. I feel guilty listing him since he was so objectionable off the field, and he had a terrible personality. But he gave me one of my all-time favorite moments as a Chief. That Grback to Rison play to win the game against the Raiders was magical. It was possibly the most ecstatic I've ever been in a Chiefs game. So I'll put up with the thug off the field in this heat.

#3 - Tony Moeaki. Like I said, it's a weak heat. But Moeaki made a play that stands up as one of the greatest catches in Chiefs history.

I should give an honorable mention to Elmo Wright, whose touchdown dance thrilled me as a child. But he was a little too early for a person my age.

I should list Carlos Carson, perhaps, because he made some exciting plays. But he tended to drive me nuts with dropped passes.

I have to mention that I'm rooting for Junior Hemingway to do well. I like the kid and he's got potential if he can just hang on to the ball.

Johnnie Morton deserves consideration, but he was a bit player in that offense, so not particularly notable.

And finally, I think Larry Parker got kind of hosed. He was the one who got in Gunther's doghouse with an unfortunate fumble on an otherwise good play. I think he got doghoused too strongly and it ruined his career.

This is the first of four heats of receivers, as noted above.

However, Popson doesn't make the cut since he was only a Chief for two seasons.

That's a weak list of names there. I might not cast a single vote here.

Two things though, I'm surprised that Leonard Pope was here for three years, and I thought Morton was here longer than he actually was.

If somebody can confirm that Leonard Pope was the one to catch a pass on third down, only reach as far as the original line of scrimmage stick, and then get up and do the first down signal, then I will cast my vote for him in this heat. That was hilarious.

I think there will be some surprises in this tournament in terms of longevity.

Pretty sure Ted Popson had a Jeff King-esque mustache. That should be worth something.

Rison is doing much better than I expected. I figured that his personality would weigh him down a lot.

Johnnie Morton...one of the charter members of the claynus curse. Maybe the first....he might been the first mediocre Chiefs player I pimped the hell out of around here.
