they're motivated by Money, and nothing else. that's the only reason for them to be bad ass on the field. it gets them more money. i bet a majority of them think the signs are reeruned.

So, Sean, you're suggesting some sort of system where the players get cash for reaching certain objectives each week?

Once basic needs are met, money isn't the motivator many people think it is - it's actually a short-term motivation tactic. Much more important motivators, especially in a team environment like football, would be 1) love of the sport, 2) relationship with teammates, 3) relationship with coach(es).

Once you have enough money to cover your bills, more money is not a motivator except as status.

In a complex setting people are motivated by mastery of their profession, a transcendent purpose (i.e. a championship) and autonomy for themselves and/or their team (positon group maybe?).

Where motivational posters work in a complex setting they work because they reinforce these things. Generally cannot be cliche.
