Just some numbers

So I was bored so I spent a little time putting together some numbers. I broke down the numbers on O and D. When I did the numbers for the O, I broke it down into the games with Hunt and games without Hunt. I also did the same numbers for the offense except I didn't break it down into time with Hunt and time without him. Seemed a little pointless, but I can if you want.

So here are the numbers for the offense -

# of drives - 148
scoring drives and percent - 80 scoring & 54%
TDs from our offense and percent - 59 tds & 40%
# FGs and percent - 21 fgs & 14%

Then the break down for with K Hunt and without K Hunt.

W/ Hunt

Drives - 119
Scoring drives and percent - 64 scoring & 54%
TD drives and percent - 47 tds & 40%
FG drives and percent - 17 fgs & 14%

W/O Hunt

Drives - 29
Scoring drives and percents - 16 scoring & 55%
TD drives and percents - 12 TDs & 41%
FG drives and percents - 4 fgs & 14 %

Numbers by half

In the 1st half of games the Chiefs have had;

69 Drives
45 Scores/65% score rate
30 TDs/43% TD rate
15 FG/22% FG rate

The numbers definitely change during the 2nd half. You can tell we have gotten the ball first in the 2nd half alot. We've had;

81 drives
35 scores/43% score rate
29 TDs/36% TD rate
6 FGs/7% FG rate

The number do show that we slow down on O in the 2nd half of games or teams are adjusting to slow us down, but I'm sure all teams would show that if they consistently have the lead. People can complain all they want but there is no way to keep the pace of the 1st half into the 2nd half. If we did that then we'd already have the 3rd most points ever scored and would be 30 points away from breaking the all time record.

Full defensive numbers

145 Total Drives
64 Total Scores/44%
44 Total TD/30%
20 Total FG/14%
22 Total Turnovers/15%

And here are the numbers broken down by half

1st Half

70 Drives
29 Scores/41%
20 TDs/29%
9 FGs/13%
8 TOs/11

2nd Half

75 Drives
35 Scores/47%
24 TDs/32%
11 FGs/15%
14 TOs/19%

So I'm sure no one is surprised by these numbers when it comes to the D, they seem to always play pretty decent in the first half, but totally fall to shit in the second half. One thing that I have noticed and what I found to be true is on our opponents first drive of the 1st half, our D has stopped them 11/14 times, good for 79% of the time. Things change dramatically in the second half, on the opponents first drive of the second game the D has stopped the opponent only 7 out of 14 times, good for a lousy 50% of the time.

If I were to guess I'd say that Bobby need to works on making adjustments at half time, but you cant really hold it against him. You never know what the other teams O is going to do when they come out of the half, so it is pretty difficult to make those adjustments when you don't know what exactly your adjusting to.

Could be a few mistakes in there, but it should be good. I was just curious about the numbers and put a little time into it, so I decided to share it all with you. I didn't want it to feel like a waste of time. So eat shit if you're going to come in here and talk shit.

Well I thought this years numbers were so interesting, so I wanted to see how that compared to last years numbers. Some real big surprises in there lol.

So to no ones surprise this offense is wayyyy wayyy better when it has Patrick Mahomes behind center instead of Alex, so lets take a look how Alex did last year running the Chiefs;

2017 Offense

Drives -171
Scoring drives and percents - 80 scoring drives and 47%
Td Drives and percents - 39 TD drives and 23%
FG Drives and percents - 41 FG drives and 24%

Differences between 2017 and 2018

Scoring Drives % - +7% in 2018
TD Drive % - +17% in 2018
FG Drive % - +10% in 2017

Now I'd like for some people see this and no longer say that Alex ran this offense anywhere close to as good as Patrick Mahomes does. I have seen that as an argument as to why Mahomes isn't the MVP. "Oh Mahomes isn't doing anything special, Alex was able to run this offense just as good!" How the hell do you have more FGs than you do TDs. God, Alex was a shitfest.

I'm betting the defenses we've played. I read the LAC have the #1 Defense since week 5

This is a great thread. However... I think we are a different offense today than we were game 1, and not for the better. I wanted to say that was losing hunt. But the Arizona game hinted that maybe good defenses were starting to find ways to limit us... Hunt played that game. The chargers and ravens put together brilliant plans and I'm sure other defenses are taking note. But putting up 24 and 28 on those defenses is still outstanding. We are still an offense juggernaut. But the first half season in the mahomes era might have been a sugar rush. We went from best offense of all time to best offense this season. I'll take it.

I still stand by the idea that much of the data you presented is skewed by how often early in the season we flat out annihilated teams so quickly that we basically played offense for 2-3 quarters in many of those games. We've played 3 games post hunt and apart from SD, our offense had to play 4 quarters in each game.

These numbers show the defense is only playing a very slight ammount worse in the second half of games. 3% change in TD's isnt signifigant especially when the TO's almost double.

Consistantly bad I guess.

I wonder if it's simply because splitting the duties keeps the Williams boys fresh

Wait until Veech fixes this defense. Give Mahomes 3 to 5 more drives a game and see what kind of numbers he puts up.

Id say his chance of fixing the D is extremely slim. He seems to think hes the smartest guy in the room and will probably have a hard time admitting his mistakes. Considering the talent that was available during the deadline that was extremely affordable and he thought the D was fine.

Says a report after he broke his leg. You seem to believe every ****ing thing that is a positive for this team. Report after report that we weren't trading for him. Even Terez said so, then he breaks his leg and all of the sudden we were trading for him.

That post might be worth a new thread, in my opinion, but I won't quibble.

I hope Nohl Williams does the Deron Cherry jersey proud.

I really like the idea of Jalen Royals having #85. Anthony Firkser has to do the right thing and let him have it.
