*** Brett Veach Appreciation Thread ***

I haven't started a thread in many years, but I was thinking this morning (after searching to find one of these type of threads on here) about the Chris Jones scenario. And it would seem to me based on what we know about Veach and Reid, that we shouldn't be concerned.

The ability this team now has to find and develop talent is OTHERWORLDLY.

Chris Jones is an AMAZING talent, but what's the difference between $25m and $30m at the end of the day? Not THAT much. He's set. Jones is just pissed off that the Chiefs didn't sign Frank Clark, so he's being a bitch about it.

But Brett Veach ALWAYS finds a great talent to replace whoever is in there.

He found Patrick Mahomes II and begged the Chiefs to draft him.

The way he assembles teams is something we've never seen in KC and maybe never before seen even in the NFL. And he was born in 1977, IIRC.

So, In Veach I Trust. He will be a pro football Hall of Famer, IMO.

What are some of your favorite things that Veach has done that you'd like to thank him about?

The only thing I would personally change, is going RB in the 5th. A more every down type. But it all worked out. Because I think Smith will be a stud in his role.

And who knows. Maybe Elijah Mitchell can stay healthy if he’s in more of a committee

Otherwise love love love this draft. Simmons is a risk, but the fact that it’s sounding like he’ll be ready to go by TC is crazy. I assumed he’d be on PUP until deep into the year.

Still can’t believe we snagged Royals either. As a prospect he’s not that far off from what Rashee was

For me, the biggest questions are the d lineman. With Simmons, if his knee recovers fully, he’ll be a pro bowler. We know the risk there. With those two defensive lineman there is more uncertainty. Gilotte is not a prototypical player in this defense. Can they coach him up and can he overcome his size limitations? With ONL and his limited reps, can he overcome his weaknesses at the next level?

It's getting old and tired. We lost to this team in the SB and it's one thing to give them their props, but it's another to just tell lies.

Veach nhandled the board absolutely perfect. He nailed every round. The eagles had 2 great picks and then a whole lot of meh.

Defend your position or admit you're taking out of your ass.

**** the Eagles... Seriously, having went to the Superbowl they were the worst fan base ever, before, during and after the game. They would drown out former Chiefs players speaking at joint pre-Superbowl events, and were nasty on the streets of New Orleans. They are complete and utter assholes. I hope everyone of their drafted players tears an ACL and misses the season.

Yea, all of a sudden ceiling and positional value don't factor in as well.

The Eagles got a good LB and a FS. The rest of their draft is depth. Of course, they don't need a whole lot, but it just isn't this masterclass of a draft.

I really beleive Veach was in a groove from round 1 to round 7.

He got a free 5th AND his guy in the 1st. He potentially solved LT for the next decade.

He loaded up at DL early on day 2 in a class with depth. Pass rush got more juice inside and out.

He got a potential starting boundary corner in the 3rd in a CB class that honestly wasn't very good.

Then he got a starting caliber WR that can be the best WR3 this teams had maybe ever.

In the 5th he got some Tranquil insurance and another potential starter.

Then in the 7th he got an explosive receiving back that could be our next McKinnon.

First of all, to be absolutely clear, I am always talking out of my ass on here. You don't have to get mad about it. You put in a lot of time on this draft, maybe more than anyone. Today is the day to be happy about it.

But maybe that isn't enough for you? You ALSO have to get in an argument with anyone who disagrees? It's not enough to win, you also have to see your enemies suffer? Or something?

But anyway, there are graphs all over twitter today of value rankings. The Eagles are near the top and so are we. I ****ing hate the Eagles but I liked their draft. Chiefs, Eagles, and Ravens tend to draft well every year.

Now, I'm not going to go dig up those graphs for you so you can argue the details. I do not care enough about this dumb spat.

There are plenty of dudes you yell at every day, go find one of them to go all fake outrage on because you're hungover or whatever I'm not interested at all in this debate.

You know who might've had a better draft than the Chiefs?

The Panthers or the Cardinals.

Those teams had fantastic drafts. The Cowboys had a great draft too.

I'm just absolutely sick of Roseman taking a literal shit and everybody pretending that he just reinvented GMing.

There's absolutely nothing about their draft to reasonably say they did better than the Chiefs. Doesn't mean they didn't have a really good draft. It's just in no way better from top to bottom.

Aaaaaand there it is.

A stupid ****ing graph based on "value".

Take your dumb ass graph and shove it up your ass.

Tell me, after Campbell and Mukuba, what about the Eagles draft is SOOO great?

They got good value on a backup QB in Kevin McCord? Who gives a shit? It's a backup QB. Value means nothing without context.

Tapout acknowledged.

You're basing your dumb ass take on graphs you saw about "value" with zero context.

Gillotte is 6'3", 265 pounds. His arms aren't any shorter than Karlaftis'. I don't see him as having size limitations at all. In fact, other than you'd like a little more length of arm, he's a prototypical 4-3 DE. He's very explosive, so I think there's no real risk there. He's AT LEAST going to be a fine rotational DE. Think a much more athletic Mike Danna.

Norman-Lott is a much quicker Wharton. I'm not really seeing any big risk here. He's a plus pass rusher, but not a rush down NT. That's what you have a Pennel for.

*Says something dumb based on something dumb on CP*

*Is absolutely shocked when somebody tells him that shits reeruned*

Sorry dude, I know you're very thinned skinned, but all you had to do was admit that you were basing it off a dumb graph and you really had no clue what you were talking about.

If I paid as little attention to the draft as you do, I'd just be hesitant to come on a place like CP and talk out of my ass, especially if you're going to be overly sensitive about it.
