Jeremy Maclin

Some stuff in the news about him recently. What do you think the odds are he hits free agency, and the Chiefs end up in pursuit?

Been reading tons of Maclin stuff today.

Video is in the link. Looks pretty smooth.

WATCH: Jeremy Maclin does sprints in Eagles practice facility
By Eliot Shorr-Parks
on January 28, 2014 at 11:27 AM

One of the biggest questions the Eagles will have to answer this offseason is whether or not they want to bring back Jeremy Maclin.

Maclin has been vocal about his desire to return to Philadelphia, and on Monday he posted a video showing he is working hard to make it happen.

The below video was posted on Maclin's Instagram account, with the caption: "It's what u do when the lights aren't on u... #18 #realcomebackstory"

It's hard to tell what to make of the video, and how optimistic fans should feel about Maclin's recovery from a torn ACL because of it.

Still, if you are hoping Maclin does return, seeing him sprint in the Eagles practice facility -- and look perfectly healthy while doing it -- likely only increases those wishes.

Maclin blew out his knee and came back faster as one of the most dynamic players in the country.

He's suffered one significant injury in his pro career, and he's proven that he's a quick healer.

Moeaki, on the other hand, is a threat to end up inside a zipped rubber bag if the temperature of the Whirlpool is two degrees below normal.

So, other than the two situations being completely different... well, no, that's it. They're completely different. I'm not saying the Chiefs should sign him, I'm not saying Maclin's never going to miss another game, and I'm not saying he'll ever be a healthy player, but I am saying that your comparison sucks.
As usual, you didn't read/comprehend what was written and just started typing a bunch of worthless drivel that nobody here cares to hear.

My comparison had NOTHING to do with Moeakis NFL play...it had to do with the injury risk he carried coming out of college being compared to the injury risk Maclin has currently. You apparently can't understand that and I'm not surprised because that's been your problem every day you've been here.

Aren't you supposed to be swallowing Pioli condoms...or are you gonna tell us more about how great Vrabel is gonna be for KC and how much of a bargain we got with Matt Cassel?

Are we really talking about Moeaki and Macklin? For the record, I would like Macklin. I think he's a quality athlete.

Moeaki had a long history of missing time with injury, in college, where the game is not as physical. He came into the NFL with that as a problem, and it stayed with him. It's not as if his broken bones problems were all in one location.

There's 7 years between popped ACLs for Maclin, so it's not as if he's consistenly going on the shelf. Is it possible that Maclin could pop the same ACL for the 3rd time? Sure, but he's not breaking every bone in his body, which seems to be Moeaki's unfortunate trajectory.

I did read your post, slick. I just pointed out that it was a lousy comparison. That's what people tend to do when someone makes a lousy comparison.

I'm as big a Jeremy Maclin as anyone. Both as a player and a person, I have a lot of respect, appreciation and admiration for him.

I think he could be a good fit for the Chiefs, at the right price. If KC is trying to win now, which it obviously is, Maclin could fit in on a one-year deal.

He gets to try to rebuild his value and show his knee is healthy. The Chiefs can sign a high reward type player who knows Andy Reid's system and should have a more shallow learning curve in the offense than a random guy off of the street.

There's a lot of WR talent in this draft, but counting on a 1st year receiver to make a big impact is usually foolish. There are some exceptions, but Keenan Allen is much more of an exception than a rule.

IF they can get Maclin at a bargain (for his level of production in the NFL) price on a short-term deal, the Chiefs get the upgrade at WR they need without breaking the bank and allowing any drafted WRs to work in gradually.

There's some risk involved - you'd need to see clean medicals on that knee and believe the ACL is going to hold up - but it offers the highest payoff/lowest price.

If it requires multiple years or does not come at a discount, it starts losing appeal, quickly. The less of a bargain it is, the less the risk is mitigated, and the smaller the potential return becomes.

doesn't seem that injury prone

2 injuries to the same knee is bothersome

imo we need to sign a pass catcher in FA and draft one. We need more speed and explosion on offense and in our secondary.
Seven years in between though, so I don't know that I'd label him as injury prone. Danario Alexander...THAT is injury prone.

We need speedy receivers...Maclin is a good fit. This, coming from a KU fan, so it's definitely not a case of mu homerism.

I don't think Maclin (or Bowe) are strong #1 guys, they're both strong #2 guys... IMO, KC should bring in a WR that is better than Bowe and improve the offense in that manner.
