He talked about the Chiefs and for the first time I've seen from any media types he said that a big part of the problem was injuries and he gave us credit for playing well last week defensively. They've struggled defensively because they were in "no mans land" trying to figure out Gunthers defense and reverting back to last years defense.

Here's a link if you got the right type of media player to watch it. Said that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was this defense, it is going to take time.

The bad news is unless we start pulling some wins out here immediately despite our problems that by the time the issue is fixed we may be having to wait until next year...

Which is exactly why we should have ditched Robinson a year earlier when he fielded one of the leagues worst defenses for the second year in a row. It was obvious to just about everybody on this BB and everyone around the NFL.

Still the problem that's losing us games right now isn't just our defense. It's coming along nicely from what I can see, although there is going to be no cure this season for the dearth of talent in the secondary or at MLB. Our losses stem from making just enough mistakes to lose each game and they span the whole team - break downs on special teams, offense, defense, and coaching. Besides just the gametime decisions, Saunders hasn't been realistic IMO when dealing with the injuries and what we have and don't have. He's still trying to be too cute at times and doing the things we did at the end of last season when the offense was humming.

So you lost Wilson and Boerichter - look around the team. Dunn is widely regarded as a great blocking TE, but he entered the league projected as a pass catching TE. He has good hands and still has very good straight ahead speed. His bad wheels probably won't let him make the tight cuts that Wilson could, but he can fly down field and beat a LB in a foot race. Use Gonzo and Holmes to draw the Safeties while Dunn heads deep.
