Video editing?

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good editing program? I’m currently playing around with a copy of Adobe Premiere 1.5 and can cut and edit the source video, but I can’t get the sound to export with the video. I have a few other programs that will allow you to merge complete video files together, but what I really need to do is edit them “remove commercials” etc…
