You have to admit that the Defense came to play tonight...holding Jamal Lewis to 67 yards rushing IN HIS HOUSE and on MNF is pretty damn good.....

What's better is that our D outplayed their vaunted Defense.....

Yeah I thought the "D" played better last week too. But it was nothing compared tonite. Man the D came to play tonite Jamal Lewis 71 yards or something like that. The penaltys are worrisome but some I thought were ticky tack. Especially compared to the mugging Tony G gets on a nightly basis. Almost 2 weeks off time to get healthy and get our Offense playing better. Yes I said Offense. D needs to improve too especially the scoring. We should move up in the rankings this week.

Actually they weren't getting much until the 4th Quarter, and I fault the special teams for letting Baltimore having a good field position.

But we held Jamal less than 100 yards, no matter what. The result? We win a game.

By the way, IIRC, this is the 2nd game in a row where we held an opponent less than 100 yards as a "team."

Oh, last thing, did anyone see how hard Jamal Lewis was breathing? He wasn't on the field that long, and he was having trouble gasping for air.

Watching the post game interviews, Gunther's talking, saying the worst part of the evening was Warfield not getting his 4th interception. "I hope I don't get a $10,000 fine, but I almost came thru the window'. Props to the D, and props to Gunther for making some gutsy calls.

Yeah but don't forget that Lewis was a 2000 yard back last year... even with their lack of passing ability. The last two weeks we've faced starting RB's who ran for over 3000 combined yards last year, and held them to a combined total of under 90 yards....

How many points did the D give up in each of our game. IIRC the D has held teams below 17 points each game? If I assume correctly we ought to win game that we hold teams below 17 points. Yes, I know we allowed that squirt in Denver to get more yards in one game than he has in the other 3 games. And, that ain't good. But, then, the D held the score down to a level we are suppose to win.

Yes, I think they played much better tonight. I agree they didn't have a quality QB but it's the same team that helped him rush for 2000 yards last season. Look at how many yards Griffins (sp?) put up on us... tonight Lewis didn't. And he is a better back.

So, maybe it is just taking a little more time than I expected for the Gun to change attitudes and get then into a Gunny mode.

Man! What a dream .... our 2003 O and a real Gun D... if we can only get the ST back up to 2003 level.... we may have a chance.

During the 90's Gun had a championship D, only to be stopped my Marty's O. Now he has a chance for true fame....

Black ... that is what it sounded like over internet radio. Which by the way was at least 3 plays behind the NFL live cast report and I'm sure about 5 plays behind the T.V. coverage.

And that announcer is the pits. He will call a play and 5 minutes later ... after he gives the history of the tackler ... finally either how much was gained or the next yard and how much to go. I think it was at the end of the first period he called a play and didn't give us the yardage until after the break....

After watching the game for a second time, I think that Lewis might have a slight concussion, if not worse (oh darn.) He took a huge helmet-to-helmet lick just prior to them showing him on the sideline wheezing it up. I didn't have time to go back and catch who the DB (I think it was Warfield) was that gave him the smacking, but it was dead on his earhole. Lewis didn't seem the same after that.

I'm confident in the defense and I think they've played much better in the last 2 games than they did in the first 2 (in particular, I think they've been tackling better). But I do agree with you that the offense deserves props for this game for protecting the defense a little bit like they are supposed to do.

The offense (where most of the Chiefs cap dollars are spent) did a great job tonight of converting on 3rd downs, possessing the ball, and avoiding turnovers. They kept the defense fresh and gave them some scoring support. Since I blamed the offense for last week's loss, it's only right to give them the credit that I think they deserve this week.

Now, if only the special teams will come around...

Last night was another step towards a true Gunther D. You could see improvement in the prior [3] games. Last night was a much bigger step. One of the best RBs in the NFL held well under 100 yards. Sims & Fujita were out and the rest of the D responded. The Offense stalled on the “put away” drive and the game depended on the Defense. This time, they rose to the occasion.

And the Defense accomplished this in spite of Special Teams giving the Ravens good field position all night long.

If you want to bash them for the flea flicker, be my guest. That was a great call by the Raven’s Offense and they deserve full credit for it.

Gunther giving ‘tude from the skybox was just icing on the cake.

In reference to the Flea Flicker, Ray-Ray himself said it best...."desperate team do desperate things"

Gunther giving it back to the few classless Raven's fans around him was classic...probably the only thing that saved them from a beat down was the fact that Gunther had already done all the damage he needed to do to Raven's fans...

The flea flicker was a great call. Gunther’s Defense is all about penetration and attacking. We have always been suckers for a misdirection play. Boller has the arm to air it out and the play action gave the WR enough of a head start that our Safeties could not recover. I give full and unstinting credit to the Ravens' OC. Great call.

I have said it before: big plays are the price you pay for an aggressive, attacking Defense. I will accept that big play in exchange for shutting down a great rushing attack.

Sure, Baltimore is a 1-dimensional team, but our Defense shut that dimension down. Not bad at all for a D playing its 4th game in a hostile environment and losing two key starters. And they stopped The Enemy with the game on the line.

Yep, I am very happy with the Defense yesterday.

Team Defense: KC’s defense allowed just 10 completions, the club’s fewest since giving up just one vs. San Diego (9/20/98).

KC allowed just 13 first downs, the fewest since allowing 13 vs. San Diego (9/7/03).

KC’s 207 yards allowed were the fewest permitted since giving up 199 vs. Cleveland (11/9/03).

Baltimore converted just 12.5% (1 of 8) of its third-down opportunities, the best mark by KC’s defense on third down since limiting the Dolphins to 12.5% (1 of 8) vs. Miami (9/29/02).

KC has forced 15 punts in its past three games.

I'm assuming that you are referring to Jamal Lewis as the "underused RB" here.

The Chiefs O controlled the ball for most of the game, and after the Ravens first scoring drive, the Chiefs D forced 3? consecutive 3 and outs.

J Lewis wasn't underused, he just couldn't get any opportunities as the result of outstanding efforts on both sides of the ball by the Chiefs.

In the first half, when he did get his opportunities, the Chiefs D stuffed him.

I'm not an optimistic type by nature.

I am certainly not going to predict that the Chiefs will get to the playoffs at this point.
0-3 is tough to overcome, even more so with the Chiefs schedule.

I am, however, pleased with the improvement that the D has shown in the last 2 weeks.
