View Full Version : FDE is alive but the Scooby Van is dead

(this is the wife)...

Stevo was in an accident this morning and it wasn't his fault. He was in the middle lane and some bigwig in a dealer Tahoe decided he was in a big hurry to get on the highway, shot across to the middle lane from the onramp and clipped Stevo's van's front right corner with the back left end of his vehicle. The van spun around, flipped onto it's left side and slid and then landed back onto it's wheels. Stevo was holding onto his custom steering wheel (that I bought as an anniversary present many years back) so hard that he ripped it loose. He's okay (bruised and very sore) but his 1965 Chevy Van is totaled. FDE is very sad but very thankful that he's gonna be okay. I know you all are his friends and I'm not sure why I wanted to start this topic, but I wanted you all to know...

Here's the funny part...

When he got into the trooper's car to follow the van off the highway, the trooper asked him,

"Anybody ever tell you that you look like Elvis?"

That is no lie...

We're home now but getting ready to go to where they towed the van to. There's paint spilled all in the inside (go figure) and we have to start clearing it out, pulling speakers/stereo, rims, etc. The accident was not his fault and the van was in very good condition so who knows what that means...I know it's not replaceable though. Stevo was moving pretty good when I picked him up but he's starting to get a little stiff and uncomfortable. Thanks for all the kind words.

10-06-2004, 11:15 AM
As for the van, you might seek legal counsel on that. It is old enough to be considered an antique and with the shape it was in, it may actually have more value than what one would initially think.

I had a wreck back in 91. I was driving an old datsun pickup (it was 20 years old and in really good shape) and was rear ended. The lady's insurance company tried to total it and give me a few hundred bucks for it. I held off and argued with them. I ended up keeping the truck, fixing it, and putting more cash in my pocket afterwards than they initially offered.

BTW, I'll second Phobia's motion for an First Down Elmo suit.

After hearing that his van spun around, flipped on its side, then rolled back upright and onto its wheels, I must ask if he will be changing his name to First Down Evil Kenievel? (sp?) Then, he'd be FDEK.
