Rub with butter, stab it with a fork about 50 times, then cook at 450 for an hour.

in the micro you rinse the spud then poke it about 4 times on each side with a knife then wrap it in paper towel and cook for 3 or 4 min,,,,in the oven rinse it,, no poking needed, wrap in foil,, bake for 1 hour at 400,

Know what I get when I microwave a potato for 3 or 4 minutes? A mostly raw potato...

Do you wrap it in paper towel after you have stabbed it,,,,,

No, I wrap it in a chinchilla coat after stabbing it with OJ's knife...

Seriously, 3/4 minutes in the microwave isn't enough unless you have some sort of super-duper microwave oven I 'm not familiar with.

Anyway, potatoes were meant to be baked in the oven. That's why you have an oven. To cook potatoes. Follow Bob Dole's directions to the letter and everything will turn out hunky-dorey...

Since this is cooking related, I just asked the wife. She cooks them 5 min in the microwave then follows up with 15 minutes in the oven. She says it drastically shortens the time to oven cook and they do not come out tasting like microwave potatoes.

As for regular oven baking, wrap them in foil, put them in at 350 degrees for and hour to an hour and a half. When you can squeeze the potato and feel it mash, it's done.

Wow. They must be getting the leftovers from Kauffman Stadium for that price!

I have never even thought to try to eat four chilli dogs in one setting. Does that place sell half price plungers, too?

Baked potatoes are awesome. Really, they're like nature's perfect food, as long as they have butter and maybe cheese on them. Someday I plan to write a poem about baked potatoes.

Quarter taters, butter, salt , pepper and a lil parsley on em, wrap em in alluminem foil and cook on grill with meat.... chedder cheese and sour cream to top em off... good stufff...Hell, taters are hard to screw up I know I try sometimes. ;-) For twice baked taters just bake em, at 400 and after an hour take out, scoop em, mush innerds ( like mashed you know ) add cheese, chives whatever put back into tater skin bake for another 30 minutes at 350 to 400 and you got da chit....If you like mashed potatoes. sour cream can replace milk very welll.

Also if you shred some cheddar cheese into the mashed potatoes, it will make them taste really good... :thumb:

Twice baked potatoes - After baking the potato, scoop out the potato, mix in milk to a mashed potato consistency, put back in shell and top with velveeta, sour cream, bacon bits or your choice. Return to oven or microwave for a few minutes and Voila!!
