I think it's marginally funny - I wouldn't personally be offended. But, considering how vastly popular CR was, I don't think it would go over well with the majority of the population. So, I voted "cruel".
You'd certainly get your picture spread around the internet community quickly.

Dress up in a football uniform and push yourself around in a wheelchair with a sign stating, "A victim of the Broncos Offensive Line."
It may not be as funny, but its' certainly not as cruel.

I have a dark sense of humor, but I also know when I've gone too far.
This might be funny next year, but at this time, I feel it might be too soon. You have to allow a little bit of mourning and respect time before making fun.
Christopher Reeve was a pretty cool guy that didn't deserve what he got.

I'd find it funny. I have a dark sense of humor and enjoy shockvalue jokes. If you were coming to one of the parties I used to host it would have been a hit. However for the average population it would probably not go over well.
You gotta know your audience. Different folks like to get their panties in a wad over different issues. Some people find the very idea of celebrating halloween offensive.

"We laugh because it hurts" was said in Stranger in a Strange Land, and it's most definitely true. There is not one funny thing you could do that wouldn't be offensive to someone. Don't mind those thin-skinned people who are going to yell as if they haven't done one "bad" thing in their lives.... I have nothing against CR--he's an awesome person--, but I must say that it's wrong how people chose to call him "Superman" just because he lived with his injuries and all that...I've known others to have nearly identical injuries and attempt to recover (one of whom was making pretty good progress until his death), but how many people are directly given so much publicity and so many charities because of it? Besides, CR probably wouldn't want people to elevate him above the others who are/were in his position...so don't really think of it as making fun of Reeve; just making fun of the people who tried to exaggerate what he did.
