WTF???

Late October and Missouri and surrounding areas are under a Tornado Watch.


Seriously crazy weather this year...

Just the other day, I had to run to avoid rapidly freezing air. And then a continent-sized snow hurricane hit.

severe thunderstorm warning for: johnson county in west central missouri.
Until 715 pm cdt..
At 625 pm cdt, national weather service doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing penny size hail, and destructive winds in excess of 70 mph. This storm was located near la tour, or 14 miles east of harrisonville, and moving northeast at 50 mph.
The severe thunderstorm will be, near centerview by 640 pm cdt. 5 miles southeast of columbus by 645 pm cdt. Near fayetteville by 650 pm cdt.
The town of kingsville is also in the path of this severe thunderstorm.
A tornado watch remains in effect for the warned area. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Although not immediately likely, if a tornado is spotted, act quickly and move to a place of safety inside a sturdy structure, such as a basement or small interior room.

Weather's been weird up here, too. It was around 80 today and EXTREMELY humid - very odd for this time of year. No storms, though, but it did rain earlier.

Yep...tends to happen whenever you have a cold, dry airmass intersect a warm, moist airmass...

Watched the radar loop...looked like there may have been a short period of time with a hook echo south east of ol' Sedville...but those things were booking so fast, that I'd say the main concern was the wind... you can see the front on the radar, though...and that's always cool... at least to us weather geeks...

So do you actually live in Sedalia???

That's my home town and I'm still technically a "resident member." I take it from the name that you're a Whiteman guy...know several of those around...

My parents live in Clarke County in south central Iowa...they had 3/4" hail and 70+ mph straight-line winds around 5:45
