View Full Version : Anyone watching the 49ers and Bears?

I know, I know. Stupid question.

Anyway, I'm watching them while I work, and there've been a bunch of interesting plays so far.

1. Craig Krenzel's first NFL pass was a 50+ yard touchdown.

2. The 49ers then forced a fumble by Krenzel and took it 80 yards for a TD.

3. Todd Peterson (yes, him) kicked a field goal that cleared the crossbar by about 12 inches.

4. Paul Edinger then topped him. He kicked a long field goal that actually hit the crossbar (not the upright, the CROSSBAR), and bounced in.

I'd rather watch trick or treaters walk up the front step even though I'm averaging 2 an hour.

Krenzel took a page from Trent's play book early on. He was getting sacked, and managed to fling it to Thomas Jones, who then gained about 50 yards. Pretty fun to watch.

Jones is fast for a big guy.

Thanks for the update, but I'm more interested in what Shaunard Harts did this week.

I'm trying to figure out if Shaunard played this week. I never saw him, and I was looking for him.

Speaking of which, Trent is getting amazing at that... its almost become expected of when he gets in trouble for him to find someone (eliigble!) and get rid of it..

What happened to Jones?

They are saying sprained foot. Not sure how bad the injury is.

I saw him on the sidelines when they showed one of those shots of our defensive guys resting on the bench with the coaches talking to them....

I saw Harts give Dante a high five after one of Hall's big returns.

72 yard kick off return for Chicago.

Krenzel's fumble was caused by the guy Tait was blocking. Tait rode him behind Krenzel and he reached in and slapped it away.

Rudy tossed tigger's salad

for the record, I'm glad the chiefs did not resign Tait. He looks very average

Most of the sunday night games have been horrible this season. I recally 2 years ago or so that the sunday night games were usually among the better ones of the week.

Heck! Edinger missed the crossbar again by about a foot.

I think his first one was a 53-yarder that hit the crossbar, and his second was a 53-yarder that fell a foot short of hitting the crossbar. It appears that his effective range is 52.8 yards.

Another FG attempt just missed hitting the bar, but fell a couple of feet short. :D

After a punt return to the 50, the Bears follow it up with a sack and a fumble. 49ers ball.

And now the 49ers fumble!

Both of these teams suck ass.

At some point this year I'd like to take in a game at the new Soldier Field, since I haven't been there yet.

I figure I won't have any trouble getting good tickets cheap. :D

I understand that the stadium is awesome on the inside. It's only from the outside that it looks like a flying saucer crashed on the lakefront. :D

Actually, I've been to a few Bears games and generally had a good time. Went to a couple of Bears/Packers games. Those are a hoot.

That's really disappointing, I thought the guy would tear it up considering the Niners could use all the offensive weapons they can get...

Niners got screwed on that review/reversal of the 3rd and 8 catch by Lloyd. There was not visual evidence that the ball hit the ground.

I think the last call was right on. You could not over turn the play based on what was shown. The interceptor must be touched after he gains possession in order to be down. He was bobbling the ball when the 49er receiver touched him. Good call...

The way I saw it, the Bear bobbled, gained control and as a result of contact with the receiver, whether intentional or not (doesn't have to be) lost his balance and his left knee clearly scraped the ground. The second more obvious knee, I would agree was not a result of the contact, but the first one was.

Not that I really care either way besides I took the niners in my pick 'em at work this week.

How is Dennis Erickson still an NFL head coach? Why did they run Mariucci out of town?

What I've wondered about is why does Erickson keep coming back to the NFL? He's had success in his college stops, but then he comes to the NFL like a lemming and makes himself look silly.

I know...it is no big deal. He must be touched after he gains possesion. It does not matter if it was a result of the contact if the contact was before he gained possesion. His knee clearly hit the ground, but he had not been touched after gaining possesion.

Just my thoughts.
