Never, you would have to be a moron to inject a virus into your own system.

Nah. I'm sticking to a strict regimen of whiskey and vodka.
I've heard whiskey and vodka will make you get sick and throw up in taxis.

Heh, that reminded me of this email I got not too long ago.

Since most of us will be missing out on the FLU shots this year, thought

this might help!

How to avoid the flu...........

Eat right! Make sure you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies.

Take your vitamins and bump up your vitamin c.

Get plenty of exercise because exercise helps build your immune system.

Walk for at least hour a day, go for a swim, take the stairs instead of

the elevator, etc.

Wash your hands often. If you can't wash them, keep a bottle of

antibacterial stuff around.

Get lots of fresh air. Open windows whenever possible.

Get plenty of rest.

Try to eliminate as much stress from your life as you can.

OR ...

You can take the doctors office approach. Think about it, when you go for

a shot, what do they do first? Clean your arm with alcohol.

Why? Because alcohol kills germs. So......

I walk to the liquor store (exercise), put lime in my Margarita (fruit),

celery in my Bloody Mary (veggies), drink on the bar patio (fresh air),

get drunk, tell jokes, and laugh (eliminate stress) and then pass out
(rest).

The way I see it, if you keep your alcohol levels up flu germs can't get

you!!!!

My son did. Second one coming soon. Not a sniffle from him; must have inherrited his old man's immune system (I hardly ever get sick) ;)

Yep, that's what I've heard. That's why I've never gotten a flu shot. And I don't plan to ever get one, either.

that's a myth.

I got mine, and I didn't get sick.

I used to get the flu all the time, but I haven't suffered it in the last 8 years thanks to the shot. :)

While in line there were all these old people ahead of me. I yelled "Hey there's an early bird special right now at the Old Country Buffet" So they all left.

No I didn't get one.

I haven't gotten a flu shot in years. They used to make us get one every year while I was in the service. Never made me sick, sick, but I usually felt like chit for a couple days after.

Right, many years last included they shot you up with the wrong virus.

Brideowanian is giving a couple hundred flu shots out today.....

I asked about the getting sick from it, and was informed that its impossible, since its not an active/live virus. The only one that could make you sick, is the nasal spray flu vaccine.........from what I'm told.

I don't really see the point if you're not a young child, elderly, a health care worker, or immune defficient............you usually end up with a non-flu case of green apple splatters anyway.

I never get sick. No shots. Other than an ocassional aspirin (to lubricate my joints for sports), I don't take any drugs either.

LOL that's how vaccines work. People who get sick form flu shots must have really weak immune systems. If they didn't take the shot they would get much sicker from the real flu, if thier body can't fight off and produce anti-bodies against an ultra weak form of the virus.

But, yeah I've never gotten a flu shot.

You're all a bunch of wimps. I've never gotten even remotely sick from a flu shot. Some of you act like they're taking a test tube of bubonic plague and sticking in your veins.... :)

Assuming, of course, they picked the right strain that year. ;)

That's my main beef with flu shots. It's a crapshoot. I understand how vaccines work.. but, the deal is, any given year, this one might not. And, for an otherwise healthy adult, the flu ain't that bad. Why bother?

I know about different strains. I'm saying if you get sick from a vaccine you must not have an immune system, so you would get sick either way, except the real flu would hurt more.

And what Iowanian said.

That's the whole point. It's not such smooth sailing for folks who are frail, elderly, or very young. Another thing is that flu isn't gastrointestinal....it's a respiratory disease. Lots of people who take the flu shot then get the craps and call it "the flu". Those are the morons.

I'm a healthcare worker, plus I have asthma. So, no, not yet, and definitely not.

The last time I got a flu shot, I got the flu like 3 times that year. I stopped taking them about 5 years ago and I haven't got the flu since.
