Is anybody EVER gonna be another Pele? If he even comes close, the U.S. will have a great chance at the World Cup title soon.

BTW, what time on Sunday is the MSL "Superbowl" on? I root for KC but I like D.C.'s Adu and Eskandarian. Eskandarian has worked himself up to being arguably D.C.'s MVP. He creates a lot of great opportunities which his teammates miss out on too often. His dad was a player I remember from the past.

I think he does it for the teenage tennis star pussy. (his girlfriend (http://www.juniortennis.com/ajt/playerinfo.php?player_id=2221))

On a serious note, the people who truly think his family jeopardized their visa lottery status by lying about his age before he had ever shown a glimmer of great soccer skill crack me up. If they were planning on taking his soccer skills to the bank, his dad probably would have stuck around instead of running off when they made it to America.

Speaking of soccer, here's the supposed camp roster for the 11/17 game against Jamaica, as reported by Ridge Mahoney of Soccer America:

GOALKEEPERS -- Jon Busch (Columbus), Joe Cannon (Colorado), Matt Reis (New England), Kasey Keller (Tottenham, England).

DEFENDERS -- Ryan Suarez (Los Angeles), Jonathan Spector (Manchester United, England), Dan Califf (Los Angeles), Chris Albright (Los Angeles), Oguchi Oneywu (Standard Liege, Belgium).

MIDFIELDERS -- Pablo Mastroeni (Colorado), Bobby Convey (Reading, England), Brian Mullan (San Jose), Clint Dempsey (New England), Steve Ralston (New England), Ramiro Corrales (San Jose), Ricardo Clark (MetroStars), Landon Donovan (San Jose), Kyle Martino (Columbus).

FORWARDS -- Eddie Johnson (Dallas), Brian Ching (San Jose), Brian McBride (Fulham, England), Jeff Cunningham (Columbus).

Really weird, if it's the real roster. Where are the center backs? Why would McBride and Keller be dragged over here, especially when Keller just got loaned to Southampton? I hope to see Gooch, Dempsey, and Spector get some PT in a meaningful game (at least, for their opponents), but why Cunningham instead of Buddle? What's the point of inviting Suarez and Corrales? Where's Gaven?

I don't have TiVo. So if they show the Chiefs game here, I'll be flipping channels for the first half of the soccer game. Will then get to see the second half uninterrupted. :thumb: I hope KC wins too.

I think they are really trying out new talent. Some familiar faces might be phased out by the next World Cup.

I'm still pissed that the Quakes pissed their 2-0 aggregate lead down the drain at Arrowhead in the playoffs.

I think they are really trying out new talent.Which is why it's baffling to see guys like Suarez (sucks), Corrales (he's okay, but even as a SJ fan, I don't see that much potential in him), and Cunningham instead of the likes of Gibbs (hasn't seen much Nats PT lately... would like to see him get back into the swing of things), Gaven (great already, even at 17), and Buddle (more promising that Cunningham).

I tend to agree with your assessment of some of those players. But maybe the coaches see something we don't. The U.S. being a near shoe-in for the World Cup, this is the time to experiment.

As for the game Sunday. Watch for Eskandarian's hustle constant creation of opportunities squandered by his teammates. I really like that guy. A true unselfish, blue collar player. (Though I might have jinxed him now for this game! He'll probably have his worst game ever.)

I also really like Esky, and United really started firing when they picked up Gomez from Argentina late in the year.
