I have one best friend... a guy who I've known since 4th grade. My "secondary" best friend is an ex g/f, she's married... and babysits for me.

My oldest friend is a female. Who used to be my brothers girlfriend in High school.

I'm still close to all my male best friends from high school. Haven't heard from any of my female friends from that era for years. This trend has continued throughout my life, with only one real exception.

When it comes to friendship, it seems guys are far more loyal. That's certainly my experience.
