I just built a new pc for my son for xmas. His desk is pretty small, so I wanted to go small, but still full featured. I bought one of the new Shuttle X PC barebones, and built it up. I started with this barebone (http://us.shuttle.com/specs_access.asp?pro_id=439) ($249 at Newegg), and then added 80gb drive ($65), CDRW/DVD player ($35), 512mb memory ($80), and AMD Athlon 2200 ($70). For about $500 the thing is loaded, and FAST, FAST, FAST! The little X PC is built very well, and is WHISPER quiet. It comes stock with Gforce4 dual monitor video, SVHS out, USB2, 1394, ethernet, 5 ch audio with optical digital I/O, the works. I bought a matching 17" LCD for $259 from newegg, so he'll be rockin'. Best of all I still have one 3.5" bay open (didn't install a floppy) as well at 1 8X AGP slot, and 1 PCI slot. Very cool package, only about 8"w X 10"t X 12"d Now I might have to build myself one!
Anyone else running one of these little critters, or one similar?
