Well, only 2 games on TV for me tonight.

Right now the Wahoos of UVA are visiting Ames to face the Cyclones, ESPN2. Currently ISU leads UVA 21-17.

In 30 minutes, FSN will show the KSU vs Oakland game, at "The Fred". Currently Oakland is 0-5 and KSU is 4-0. Oakland has played pretty much all road games, and have faced Texas A&M and most recently Missouri.

Wooo!

It'll be interesting to see how ISU handles this one. They just got their ass handed to them by Northern IA a few days ago, after the coach and a player made some interesting remarks about scheduling better teams in the future.

The Cy-clowns have a pretty good back court, and they play tough at Hilton.

3 of the 4 games have been come from behind wins. They have been flat offensively in 3 of their 4 games in the first half, but then come out on fire in the 2nd half. Defensively they've been awesome..but then again they've faced poor shooting teams. I'm expecting them to win this game , but saturday when they face Wyoming @Casper, WY (a semi-away game) will tell me alot more about this team. They have been AWFUL on the road the past few years...

Cool. Devin Smith for UVA wasn't recruited out of high school, went to Coffeyville, KS Juco, and now plays for the 'Hoos.

Iowa has Northern Iowa tomorrow night. It will be a tough one as UNI is talented and really gets up for the game against the Hawkeyes.

Iowa is rated #17.

Jesus this is ugly. Oakland is shooting 7/12 from 3 points. WTF.

Anyone just see that break by ISU? Wow. That's some sweet street shit right there. No look leak out pass off a rebound, behind the back feed to the trailer and a nasty tomahawk to finish.

I said a while back ISU is probably the second best team in the North, and will probably finish 5th, maybe push OU for 4th in the conference this year. Stinson and Blalock are money.

ISU beats #19 UVA of the unstoppable, idominable, impregnable ACC.

Go Big XII!

KSU down by 1. Zone defense is working better for some reason...I don't know why though. Oakland hasn't even tried a 3 this half.

ISU's FT shooting was horrible. If they shoot half as good as they normally do, that game isn't even close. VA was making mad 3s to keep em in it. I'm impressed with Stinson and Blaylock.

Like I said, it's tough to come into Hilton and get a win. Morgan's only lost one game there since he's been the head coach.

Cats got no defense huh? If they can't defend the powerhouse that is Oakland I hate to see what Big XII teams do to them. Oh, well, they're used to it.

Defensively we've been a whole lot better in the 2nd half, as always.

In the first half, we weren't giving them many looks, they were just hitting threes. 7/17 in the first half, and something like 2-12 in the second half.

Saulbadguy
12-06-2004, 09:02 PM
Might as well call these kids the Scrappy Cats...cause we scrapped together in the second half again, and ended up winning the game by 7. :ksu: clawed back from as many as 15, and used solid defense and great shooting to improve to 5-0, as their opponents, the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, fall to 0-6 in their 3rd game in 6 days.

Holy Lord, KSU is 6-0? Have they been playing Division III schools or something?

No. Not yet, at least. We are 5-0, btw.

We do play a Division 2 school, but playing Division 2 schools is nothing to be proud, or ashamed of. If you beat a D2 school, it does absolutely nothing to your RPI, as wins or losses vs D2 schools don't count in the RPI.

It however could influence the selection committee to not choose you if you lose to one, though.

OK we went from a big scummy City to some place I never heard of, is it a Detroit suburb?

KSU and MU are masters at finding these obscure outposts masquerading as Div. 1 schools. And as often as not, lose to them. Hahahahahaha.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Jeremiah Massey had 24 points and 15 rebounds and Kansas State closed with a 24-8 run to beat Oakland, Mich., 76-69 Monday night.

Oakland (0-6) hit 7-of-12 3-pointers in the first 10:53 but missed its next 14 attempts. That opened the door for Kansas State (5-0), which trailed 61-52 before a 3-pointer by Lance Harris kicked off a 14-0 run capped by a Clent Stewart 3-pointer.

After a basket by Patrick McCloskey got Oakland within 66-63, another 3-pointer by Cartier Martin pushed the lead back to six. The Wildcats, who had made just 7-of-16 from the free throw line, then made good on 7-of-8 trips to seal the win.

Martin and Marques Hayden each added 15 for the Wildcats, who have come from behind in the second half in four of their five games.

Rawle Marshall lead Oakland with 20 points. Kris Krzyminski added 15 points and seven rounds for the Golden Grizzlies, who have played five of their first six games on the road.

Oakland came out firing from beyond the 3-point line early. Marshall got things started with an open 3 on the Golden Grizzlies' first possession, and three 3-pointers by Krzyminski helped Oakland build a 20-13 lead.

The Golden Grizzlies extended the lead to 15 midway through the first half, shooting 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc, before the Wildcats finally mounted a charge to get within 43-36 at the break.

Has KSU played Grand Canyon yet?

They were on USF's schedule. I never knew there was a school down there, inside the Canyon.
