In related news the rock band Metallica sues Internet BB posters who talked bad about them, accusing them of damaging their trademark and reputation...

I recall a joke article about Metallica suing other bands for using C# too much in their songs because everyone knows Metallica made C# huge. It was actually tough to determine if the article was a joke or not.

Wasn't that during the Reagan administration?

In related news I downloaded an entire metallica album last week, listened to it, decided it sucked, and deleted it.

Wouldn't that be E? I remember that one, too. Been awhile since I read it. Funny stuff.

That was the 80s.... you know, when Clif Burton was still alive. (and even then, they were just 'okay'... for metalheads ;) )

That was their last decent album. Although I liked And Justice For All better. Their first 5 albums were great. Then they decided they needed to turn into modern rock/alternative. Problem is that wasn't Metallica's strength. This was a textbook example of selling out.

Justice was the last good album. Sell out? More like burned out. Once you hit the mass of humanity everything cool goes to shit. Its just the natural order.

Yeah, there were a couple of good songs on that one (S&D, HTL) but for the most part, I thought it was typical metal... just 'sped up' ;)

I gave 'em some credit for having punk influences. Too bad the only one with balls had to have a bus fall on him.

It's still going on today, that's why I've quit listening to the radio.

St. Anger might have been ok, but Lars decided to take all the dampers off his snare drum so all you can hear is a ringing 'koing' koing' 'koing', every time he hits it. I bought the cd to get the bonus DVD audio and can't even listen to it because of that damn drum.
