View Full Version : What quarter do you think the Chiefs will give up again against the Broncs?

Last year in December, it was the third quarter... Anyone think that the Chiefs will be able to make it to the fourth quarter before throwing in the towel?

If Bell plays, I say they have Portis flashbacks from last year and quit earlier... If it's Droughs, they might make it all the way into the fourth quarter before they call it quits.

That is what I was going to say. After Plummer's fifth INT puts us up by 30 and Ratface pulls out his hair and impales himself on the 1st down marker/pole.

I was having a hard time deciding between Jake's 5th or (insert RB of the week here)'s 3rd fumble.

Bell is likely lost for the season, so it will be Reuben doing the damage. DEN hasn't played well the last two weeks, but this is the KC defense we're talking about.

I think it will be a pretty close game, but DEN will win 27 - 20.

The Donks are gonna own us this weekend; by the end of the first quarter they'll be up 21-0, enroute to a 56-14 romp....KC's only two TDs will be returns by Dante.

Well that is pretty pathetic.

But it was an interesting place to watch a football game. We were walking around town, and the conversation with a local would go like this:

Them: You from KC?
Me: Yep.
Them: Ever been to the dome?
Me: No.
Them: Oh. It sucks.

And then at some point near the end of the game, when we were being thoroughly pounded, Priest scored a touchdown, and the people in my section thought they had just choked away the Super Bowl or something. They started swearing and booing like crazy, throwing beer off the upper deck, kicking chairs, etc.

A bunch of Vikings fans sent us pitchers at the bars later that night though. Pretty cool town, good football fans.

Indy has already clinched their division.

Manning will have beaten the TD record handily by week 16.

Indy and SD still play eachother which will most likely settle their seeding issues.

I wouldn't call the Playoffs nowhere. It's a destination in itself. I'd rather go to the playoffs and lose, than not go at all. There's plenty to be said about getting playoff experience for your team, even in a loss. Losing to Jacksonville made us that much more hungry the year after. Look at Indy... They've lost every year they've gone... But at least they've gone.

I understand that telling yourselves that it doesn't matter if a team goes in and loses. It's about the only thing a team that had Superbowl expectations, only to be done with the season in October can do.

But I'll be happy if we make it to the playoffs. Sure, if/when we lose there, it will be a disappointment. But I'd rather go and lose than not go at all...

I have no problem with a low scoring battle against the Dolphins. That's how 80% of their games have been this year. Opponents are only averaging 22 points per game against their defense... and that's with two skewed games where they plain didn't show up and let two teams hang 40 on them. But if you look at their results, they've been in just about every game, and lost by just a score.

I'm not ashamed of that win in the least.

We beat them in INDY last year with similar playoff implications.

I do have a feeling that their seeding will be decided by then .... Their only chance for the 2nd seed is if PITT loses out ( probably not ) and the 3rd seed battle is with SD and they still play eachother, so that ups the chances greatly that it will be in stone by the last week of the year.

(* Violated the salary cap during their championship seasons).

Look out .. you and UserName are one of the same mind on this one.

Sure, DEN hasn't won anything since Elway left... it's only been 5 years, I waited much longer than that with Elway before Shanahan showed up.

5 years is nothing... and still, in that time, DEN has fewer sub .500 seasons than any other AFCW team and they have more regular season wins - advancing twice.

Many of you said DEN would come back down to earth once Elway left ... they did, and while they have no playoff wins and no titles, they've still done better in the regular season than any other AFCW team.

Nothing too major to hang my hat on, but what the hell...

its just a double standard.

we suck now because we are 8-5 .... But in preseason around here it was gonna be KC 12-4 and Denver 9-7 (tops).

Missouri Loves Company ... thats all i can figure.

There is no double standard. You siad based on what Chief fans predicted, you consider your season asuccess.

Didn't bother to read through this shithole of a topic, but has anyone notified Taco that Bell's done for the year? :)

Uh... Someone should notify the team if that's the case, because they're reporting that Bell is day-to-day (http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=334&storyID=3653)

Added Head Coach Mike Shanahan: "He’ll have a pad on there. It’s an injury that can be (treated with a injection) to alleviate some of the pain."

The injury shouldn't take months to heal, but perhaps days, Bell believes.

"I'm just going day-to-day, basically," he said. "It wasn't a two- or three-week thing, (trainers and doctors) told me. So, basically it's day-to-day."

Just as encouraging to Shanahan was the fact that Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopulos was able to recite a list of players who returned to action one week after incurring a third-degree shoulder separation.

"I asked (Antonopulos) to go back over the last 15 years or 20 years and tell me the people that were able to play the following week with a third-degree separation," Shanahan said. "He went through about 10 or 15 guys that were able to play the following week. So that was a little encouraging."

One of those players was Terrell Davis, who fought through a shoulder injury late in the 1997 season to help lead the Broncos on a playoff run to their first world championship.

So this injury could stand a referendum on Bell's ability to play through pain. He missed time with finger, rib and hamstring injuries earlier in the year.

"We’ll get a chance to see how tough he is because it is tough to play with that type of injury," Shanahan said. "But people have done it."

Bell believes he might be the next to do so.

"There are some good signs. It depends how fast my body can recover," he said. "I want to play this week, especially coming off a good game. I just don't want to be a one-game wonder. I want to keep it going."

But I'd rather go and lose than not go at all...What's your mantra going to be next week when the Chiefs put a whupping on your Donx to theoretically knock them out of the playoffs? If we can't go we usually insure that you guys can't go. How many times has it been the last few years that the Chiefs have knocked the Donks out of the playoffs, last year nonwithstanding. Taco is already spinning over at the mane. LOL! How is it that when Trent throws an INT, it's his fault, but when Plummer throws an INT, it's the OLine's fault? LOL! I think I speak for everyone when I say I've seen Jake this year, and I've seen a lot of INTs thrown when he wasn't being rushed.

here's as close as Taco can get to admitting that he, and all bronco fans, root for the worst QB in the league....plummber is no Volek (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=21345)

"It bothers me that Plummer could not capitalize on that defense...

I watch that defense week in and week out give mediocre players big time games. Granted, the game plan we came in with was pretty stupid, the fact that Plummer could not capitalize downfield is very bothersome to me. We were considering brinking Volek in here to back up Plummer, MAYBE as a third stringer... IF he was good enough to make the team. Anyone catch his act last week against this defense? With receivers that are no better than what we have, no less..."

ah, I love it. The season's on the line and the Donkos can't be bothered to show up.

What does that say about the genious coach who's supposed to have you ready to play?

What does it say about your team's heart, such as it is?

Gutless. With a playoff berth hanging in the balance they should have showed up ready to play. But not even a fight for their playoff lives against a division rival can get them up for a game. They should have came in and just wanted it more. But it was the team in red and gold that wanted it more. (I mean, we all know the Donks are the better team of course, they could have come here and taken candy from the babies if they wanted to). To me Denver looked yesterday like a team that didn't really care either way if they made the playoffs. A mediocre team that is chomping at the bit to more or less put and end to your season will pretty often take a team that doesn't care and take them out behind the woodshed.

Dude, I'm sorry, but I don't think the Donks are that much better than the Chiefs, and it was proven yesterday. To say they just laid down doesn't tell the whole story. PlummINT sucks, and I'd be curious what his stats are compared to Greise. Not much better I'd bet. Their defense couldn't stop us, pretty much like last game. They have lost some games this year that they shouldn't have lost if they were really that good. I say again. The Broncos are not much better than the Chiefs, certainly not so much better to warrent a belief that they could have "taken candy from the babies" in Arrowhead.

They wanted to win. They just couldn't. Proving that they are the pretenders of the division.

Oh TJ, where are you? ROFL

Here he is...fresh from the donko's butt

I still want Shanahan around... But I want him to clean house for real... And that means it's time to divorce Kubiak, push him out of the nest, or whatever cliche you want to use for getting Kubiak out from underneath Mommy's skirt. We need some fresh ideas and fresh thinking on offense. Kubiak isn't getting it done for how many years now? It's time for a change at offensive coordinator.

The defensive side of the ball has been a mess ever since Coyer and his assistants started fighting. Gibbs got fired over the fracas, which is fine. But the residual effect was one hell of a distraction that cost our team some focus down the stretch. My solution, give Coyer full autonomy to hire and fire his coaches so that he has people willing to buy onto his program. Promoting him from the ranks kept things stable, but egos appear to have gotten in the way.

Special teams... When are we going to take special teams seriously? We lost the field position battle all year long. Why have we not yet gotten a specialist to shore up our special teams problems after this many years? We haven't had a good special teams unit since before Dennison was failing miserably at the position... right before his promotion to offensive line-coach, which cost us the real deal in the long run. Tell Dennison to hitch a ride with Kubiak.

Denver's got @ Tennessee and at home against Indy. Jax is at home against Houston and @ Oakland. I don't think Denver is out of it necessarily but they really killed their chance to control their own destiny because Baltimore lost last night. Now they've let Buffalo and Jacksonville into the race and I'm not sure they have the tiebreakers over anyone except maybe Buffalo.

They are not eleminated yet but the Jags and Ravens will win a tiebreaker with the Broncos.

Jaguars would be No. 6 seed in AFC over Bills, Broncos and Ravens. Bills drop out first because of 5-6 conference record vs. 5-5 for other three teams. Broncos drop out next due to lower strength of victory (.423 to .491 for Jacksonville and Baltimore). Jaguars would get last spot based on better strength-of-schedule than Ravens (.571 to Ravens' .544).
