this is amazing, I can't believe that this can happen, good thing for me is that I love Madden football! but this would suck for everybody who plays ESPN, especially the company and visual concepts.

didn't expect that. i wonder how long until ea goes after the espn license as well. madden would be perfect if it kept its gameplay and had espn's presentation.

Probably also means that next year will be another Madden "stand pat" year where few changes other than the rosters are made while they work on the new bells and whistles for their Sue-PAR MADDON game in 2 years...

ya, I just hope that EA doesn't get lazy with this since they won't have to worry about competition. They better fix the glitches and add a bunch of cool stuff damnit! :thumb:

Madden games suck. It's all about the hyped-up Sportscenter BS and his fat yap, rather than the game.

FFS, Unnecessary Roughness back in '95 was the best NFL game ever!! Sure, the graphics are way-dated by today's standards, but the gameplay was perfect and you could create your on plays!

Oh well, I guess more people like 'arcadish' games more than 'simulators'... at least, when it comes to sports games. :(

Well other people will still be able to make "Professional football" games, but they'll have to be like the really old Madden games where the team name is just the city (no 'mascot') and there won't be any player names (or maybe even numbers for that matter). So prepare to play "ESPN Football 2K6: starring Kansas City quarterback Elvis DeBono."

Really all EA's competitors can do now is give you the cities as "teams" and allow you to edit in all of the player names....

That is ****ing disgusting. COMPLETELY ****ing disgusting. The FIFA series is utter shit year after year despite being completely outshined by the unlicensed Winning Eleven franchise. FIFA holds the exclusive FIFA license. FIFA outsells WE.

well it's no surprise espn was beating them in every way possible. The good news would be maybe espn lovers could get the ratings and names of the net just like for NCAA.

Tecmo bowl was alright if it wasin't for the bo jackson glitch that allowed that mfer to run for 106 every game. Or my buddy's sick 76 sack season with DT

Madden is the best game on the market, but Tecmo Super Bowl was the greatest sports game of all time, if you took the technology of that game at that time and translated into days standard wow that game would be unbelievalibe.

W11 is now licensed and #8 will soon be out for Xbox. Buh bye FIFA. As for this shit, oh well. I will always have my ESPN 2K5. Madden compared to Sega's games is utter shit.

136 licensed clubs is more than 3 leagues. Unless they are doing 2nd leagues too, that would be gay.

136 clubs and 57 national teams (that is huge BTW, FIFA had what, like 20?).

So here's a question...can Sega produce NFL 2k6 brought to you by that football team in Kansas City...but then put out a roster update via internet download (or XBox Live :) ) with all of the official names? Or does that violate the deal that EA has going for them?

Either way, somebody on the internet with more free time than me will make a roster for download that will have all of the players named...

They needed a reason for customers to buy their $50 as opposed to ESPN's $20 game.

Too bad, for the 4th year in a row, it won't be because of gameplay.

This sucks. Competition is a good thing as evidenced by ESPN's $20 games this year. Both games have their strengths and weaknesses. I have both and I'd say that neither is really better than the other overall. I just hope this doesn't mean ESPN will drop out of the market.
