View Full Version : We REALLY need to lose this game

Mr. Laz
12-19-2004, 11:20 AM
our wins the last couple weeks against 2 other 4 win teams have really killed our chances at a high draft pick.

since we won against the bad teams who are tied for the draft spots with us, we pretty much gotta lose to the good ones.

we still have a huge #5 - #20 draft choice swing based on these finally 2 games.

and yes ... for those guys out there who continue to put their immediate gratification needs, of winning meaningless games right now, ahead of the long term success of the team can KISS MY ASS!!.

we pretty much lose every draft pick tiebreaker, so any team we are tied with will pick ahead of us. we can't afford win anymore games.

we are looking at a "potiential" swing from 4th to 22nd based on these last 2 games.

# Team W-L Opps'

Yeah. A second loss to this POS division rival would make for a super duper day, indeed. Improving our position in next year's NFL Crapshoot is much more meaningful.

Sorry, I will never WANT to lose the Donkeys. Never. Its up to the Chiefs brass to make the RIGHT picks in the draft, it doesnt matter how high your pick is if you dont know how to evaluate talent. If YOU dont like it YOU can kiss MY @ss.

I agree. I'd much rather have a top 10 draft pick next year than a 2 meaningless wins at the end of the season that will cloud the judgement of our incapable front office.

we have to go either 5-11 or 6-10. I would hate to see us go 7-9, 8-8. Then, our FO will just come up with excuses, and justify their reasons as to why we failed. There doing that already now that we won 2 in row. Can you imagine if we go 7-9, 8-8? then, will see another stand pat off-season. At least, if we go 5-11, 6-10, it'll put the force on our FO to do something in the off-season.

Part of the reason we always seem to be perfectly mediocre is we always draft in the mid to late 1st round. This has a cascading effect and causes Carl to think he has missed out on a good player and encourages him to trade down or take a chance on a reach. If we draft in the top 10 there is less room for error.

I could care less about the last 2 games of the season but this is our Super Bowl and I want to win this game bad. We need to win this game for pride only. Plus we could knock them out of the playoffs which would make this season bearable.
Plus who here wants to hear TJ gloat all year long about sweeping us?

True.

Sims has been a real impact player. Taint is solid on the O-line, too.

I hear ya, I wanted them to lose the previous 2 games and the last 2 games of the season but I really want them to crush the Broncos. I want them to destroy Plummer.

so then we should just stop drafting all together???

how about we actually deal with the problem instead just trying to avoid it.

lose these 2 games, get a high draft pick

then

revamp our personnel dept so we can actually take advantage of the high pick in each round.

On the bright side...it really helped having washington win their game...
I pray the Saints win over the bucs...because they have identical 5-8 records...but come draft trime...the Saints want Derrick Johnson or Rolle...and the Bucs will grab a RB or WR. Let's hope Arizona wins too.
Ans the Titans beat the Raiders.

I used to be on the tank it bandwagon but we F-ed that up last week bigtime so I really don't care now.

I'm sure we'll blow the pick now.

Rolle & Johnson are out of the running so we're screwed.

Might as well try to beat Denver.

If the wins are coming because of young players developing then you should be happy. LJ, Parker, Black, Pile, Allen and Siavii all keep improving. Even if the Chiefs finished 1-15 they still need the afore-mentioned younger guys to make the playoffs. Draft picks alone aren't going to do it.

An offseason without Denver trolls

I still don't understand how you're supposed to develop youngsters and lose on purpose. Are they supposed to run a little slower or block a little less?

I mean, dammit, it really sucks that Carl is going to waste a mid round draft pick instead of wasting a top 10 draft pick like he did with Sims.

As Bob Dole commented in the Poz article thread, meaningless wins like yesterday are why we seldom acquire quality players like Brian Waters.

As keeper of the lexicon you should know we don't "waste" draft picks. We "piss them away".

We do both, actually:

1. Pissed Away - Any draft pick traded by KC
2. Wasted/Reach - Any draft pick used by KC to select a player

No that is pretty much stupidity, but in fairness I did it at 80s prices. Would not do it today at 2004 prices.

By winning yesterday we don't draft until the 4th round. There will be no good players left and the team will forever be destined to land in the AFC West basement.

Absolutely NO !!! We don't lose to the hated Bronc Hos. Ever !!! Deal with the draft on draft day but win every game you can every time you take the field. You NEVER want to get used to losing. You want your team to hate losing. Besides, the players have too much pride to look like fools and lose their jobs just so Carl Peterson can draft a guy that will take their place. And we don't want people on the team that are satisfied with losing.
