Well its official. King Carl was on metro sports and said LJ is in the 2nd year of a 6 year contract and will be back. Priest will be back and is our starter. Blaylock needs to go explore free agency and see whats out there and if he wants to return to the Chiefs we can talk then.

May not work out so bad. King Carl ain't going to be trading LJ or Priest or Tony G. Maybe giving Priest a lighter load might make him even more effective.

I didn't know LJ signed a 6 year deal. That's a pretty long contract to come into this league.

Don't know what LJ's deal is but this is the only move that really makes cap sense!

He has a little ways to go before he earns that right. Maybe after Priest hangs up his cleates.

They talked about that on Metro sports after King Carls comment. I bet LJ's agent is looking for loophole right now.

I think there is an option for a 7th year too if I remember correctly.

I hope that Priest is still Priest next year, and for as many years as he wants to keep doing it, because he's still the best there is. But I also think we would do well if LJ was our running back of the future.

Priest and Larry is one RBBC combo I can deal with. :thumb:

Best of luck to Blaylock, as long as he doesn't go to Denver or Oakland.

Priest starts the drive.

LJ busts off a long run to get it inside the 15.

Priest takes care of the rest.

LJ starts bitching about PT after week 4.

Oaklands running game is in the toilet!

For 10 years we didn't have one legit HB.

Now we have 2 (might even have 3.) I love it...

Anytime the Raiders run somewhat effectively they end up charged with felony evasion.

I'd be surprised of that contract didn't have voidable years...

Most 1st round rookies sign 6 or 7 year deals that are voided to 4 years when they make basic PT incentives, right? I know LJ signed his really early, and it might have a few unusual elements, but I'd say we can only count on holding him to this contract for 2 more seasons.

yeah....maybe we can trade one for a shut down CB. Denver can tell you how good that worked for them.ROFL

If I remember correctly, LJ signed a very reasonable contract without prolonged negotiations. His attitude was that he had not yet done anything in this league, so he was not entitled to ask for the moon. Very humble.

The only flaw with this scenario is, if LJ breaks one he ain't stoppin' at the 15 yard line. There won't be anything left for Priest to take care of.

Darren Sproles to replace Derrick Blaylock? Could be a nice fit with LJ in the future a Thunder/Lighting type combo.

And I'm not a K-State fan, so no homer stuff going on.

No... but I know of a player by the same name who's well on his way to being an NFL training camp reject.

As much as I hate to see him go, I think that there is no other choice, here. LJ has finally started to earn his keep, and I can't imagine keeping Blaylock over either him or Priest.

Does that mean we're going to draft another running back in the midrounds of the draft this year?
