For me it's just Hack and my buddy I used to work with. He got 5 years for selling meth. He says he will do 1 1/2 years of it.

My brother-in-law got out last year, but that is the only person I have known. Vehicular Manslaughter or something like that for driving drunk.

Growing up where I did (HUD project), half of the neighbors or more had been to prison.....3 of my "friends" from adolescence are serving time, that I know of.....

One of our HS classmates is on death row in Oklahoma for serial murders of prostitutes---while he was a police officer. I'm dead serious. It was the "talk" of our twenty year reunion. :shake:

Oh - I just remembered a buddy I had in the USMC - he tried to kill his wife and fortunately was pretty pathetic with a knife. He failed and served time. He might be out, too. But I doubt it.

2 uncles in now & a cousin.

All three for distribution of drugs.

1 uncle in & out all of his life and was either Missouri's or the nations first 3 striker back in the early 90's.

The other uncle went the same time he did (1st offense) because he got involved with the repeat offender uncle (they're brothers). He's my favorite uncle on my dad's side and is due out in middle to late next year.

The 3 striker got a 30 year sentence and we expect him to depart earth while in jail.

An old college classmate is serving time in jail for killing this boy & saying that the devil told him to do it. He killed him and then walked down the street with the body covered in a sheet.

I have to add this.

Did you ever see the Chris Rock comedy thing on HBO a few years back when he talked about the prison special? He said that the guy told him that if a new inmate wanted drugs he'd make him toss his salad. Well the guy talking about having his salad tossed was my roommates uncle. I guess the dude called him and told him that he was gonna be on tv so his whole family watched the prison thing and got pretty pissed they did. Then the icing on the cake of having Chris Rock make fun of his uncle too.

On a side note, I know 2 folks I went to school with with life sentences for murder. One here in Des Moines and 1 in North Carolina. Good guys.

Nope. chose to stay away from bad people.

I dont know you so maybe I took your comment wrong but it sure sounds "high and mighty" to me. Many of us chose/choose to stay away from "bad people" yet still KNOW people in prison...doesnt mean we were best buddies, family or lovers, just means we know them. Even then, if they were buddies/family/lovers or whatever doesn't always mean they are/were bad people when sent to prison. I was surprised noone responded to your comment before I did.

Back to the subject of the thread...I do know a few people in prison. One is an old gradeschool "buddy" that was caught several times selling and using/posessing drugs of all sorts...he will be in the pen for a long time. Another one is my sis-in-laws brother, he is in for statutory rape.

While I was in college, a guy we used to make fun of in JHS and HS went to jail for him and a buddy killing and robbing a guy they found through the classifieds. The guy was selling his car, and went along with them on the 'test drive' they killed him, took his keys and went back and robbed his house.

Oh, and my step-cousin did a few months for the most inept attempt ever to add zeroes to a money order.

One of my very best friends went for a number of years for robbing banks. After several successful heists he was eventually caught. He was pretty much forced to confess to several other bank heists that he didn't do as well. A good way to get them off the books I guess. Anyway, he has been out and on the straight and narrow for the last 15 years or so. Another good question might be: How many people here have done something they COULD have gone to jail for? I'm guessing most.

I have a few H.S buddies that ended up in Prison. Don't know if they are still there.

I also had a friend in the Navy who I remained friends with when I got out. We used to have he and his wife over for dinner or we would go over to their house. They would fight like cats and dogs. Call each other names. It got to where we spent less and less time with them.

Anyway she ended up blowing him away with a 357 magnum. She is in prison still. Her defense was she was a battered wife. The judge and jury felt she gave as much as she got. So they locked her up.

He's made a couple of assertions in this thread...

1) He stays away from bad people
2) A person that commits acts that could land them in prison is bad

Yet, he himself has committed illegal acts. I'm interested in knowing how he's staying away from himself... since, by his own definition, he's a bad person.you shouldn't confuse the little shit with logic and deductive reasoning...

Wait, are you claiming that you're not a "bad person"? You simply "made a mistake"? Why are the rules different for you than everyone else?

Was that incident the only time you've been in possession of marijuana? Do avoid it like the plague now? Do you not consort with people that consume, transport, buy, and/or sell marijuana? Was that evening the only time you've ever been in contact with such people?

I know you wanna get down to the nitty gritty in all of this. I'm gonna make this short and simple as possible. So, I confess. From what I said in this thread, post. My reply was simply wrong. And you know what, I will stand a man to admit it. I will admit it. yes, I'm claiming I'm not a bad person. Yes, I made a mistake. It happens. Sh*t happens. Oh well what can you do? My answers to all your questions in the bottom paragraph are yes.

When I was in junior high, one of the kids in my science class was 16 years old and huge. Not fat, but muscular. He was the nose tackle on our football team, and he would just terrorize the other teams. He sat right in front of me for a semester and seemed like a pretty nice guy, albeit pretty slow.

He didn't make it past the ninth grade, and one night when I got off work at the restaurant I went to the McDonald's for a late-night snack. There was this strange loud noise that came and went, followed by a bunch of sirens, and I found out later that he was running from the police at 90 mph on a motorcycle down one of the busiest streets in town (Kingshighway for those of you who know Rolla). I don't remember now if that was for the same crime, but he eventually got sent to prison for beating up and robbing two soldiers from the nearby army base...simultaneously. None of us who knew him doubted that story for a minute.

Later, he got his sentence extended for (ahem) sexual assault while in prison. That was 20 years ago, and he may well still be in prison for all I know. He wasn't well equipped for self-sufficiency.

If we were to hang out, it would make your assertion that you don't consort with those that consume, transport, buy and/or sell illicit substances untrue.

I find it highly unlikely that you decided to go on a trip across the border with someone you just met that night, and never spoke with again. Assuming that's not the case, that would mean your companion on that trip must fall into the circle of friends and acquaintances who never deal in such things... excepting that one isolated incident.

Marijuana doesn't just fall out of the sky. Someone has to get it from somewhere. I suppose it's possible you and a buddy were walking down the street one day, stumbled up on a sack of bud on the sidewalk, and thought, "Hey, I've got an idea. Let's take this, and go across the border to party!" But, it's not very likely.

1st paragraph: Ok, so am I following you now? Are you saying your one of those of people? If so, then, we won't hang out.

2nd paragraph: whatever. You don't know the story, and weren't there. First of all, that person I crossed the border with, WAS at one time a friend of mine. I didn't just meet this person out of the blue. Correct, my friend at the time just happened to be "one of those circle of friends and acquaintances" call it if you will, and, it just happened to be a night where we felt like smoking.

3rd paragraph: I'm not gonna comment on paragraph 3, you sound like a f*cking detective.

Oh yeah I forgot.

Another former college classmate just finished time in the pen for robbing a bank.

Last but not least...
My sister's ex-boyfriend got 12 years for assault type B and battery for beating my sister up while she was sleep because she wouldn't watch his kids when he wanted to go out to play pool with the boys. He dropped her off on the hopsital steps and left her for dead and drove off in HER car.

Luckily the police got to him before anyone in the family did (including myself) I'm afraid it'd be one of us "in jail" INSTEAD of him.

yes it is,,I simply answered the question about who I knew in jail. But he only drove the first time. Those good ole andrew county cops will give you a dui while passed out in your truck in front of the bar. You don't even have to be driving now. And my uncle never killed anybody. I don't know if that's what the law is in states, here in Canada, regardless, whether you kill someone or not, drunk driving is classified as a criminal offence.

But... But.. We just found it o:-) Man, I used to hear that story all the time. Like the fact that you just found a few kilo's should excuse your ass from getting busted for possession. ROFL

He went over to his ex's house while drunk (dumb move) and peeked in the window to find her on the floor getting shagged by her new boyfriend (who is a crooked deputy sheriff). My bro busted down the door, tore the place up, and made some threats. He got charged with terroristic threatening and B&E.

He only served like a year.
