Yeah, possibly. The interesting thing about Grbac is that he has some very good performance, but also some major gaffes, and his career in KC wasn't that long. I wouldn't argue with him being on the bottom of the list, but it's close. I think maybe a guy like Manusky or Birden may have had a larger net positive impact, but Grbac's Pro Bowl may give him credence to move past them.

The Lowery/Stenerud rankings are hard, too. I've got Stenerud at 13 and Lowery at 31, but I view them as being roughly equal. Stenerud's HoF bust gives him a big boost, though. It's hard to compare a kicker against other positions.

are those players that are still active on the list for their projective stats, or are you saying that they are there already?

I'm saying they're there already. They can still move up or down based on what they do in the future.

Who is the highest ranked punter

I ranked Jerrell Wilson #23. He played with the Chiefs for (I think) 16 years, and was one of the best punters in the league. He also played fullback early in his career.

As for Alt, he was a rock at left tackle. I remember at one point the announcers mentioning that he had given up 1.5 sacks over a two-year period. I think he only made the Pro Bowl once (and that was as an alternate), but then again Anthony Munoz went to Hawaii every year during much of that time, and the press salivated over the (overrated) Richmond Webb, who kept making the Pro Bowl because Dan Marino had such a quick release that he never got sacked.

That said, I wouldn't disagree with someone rating Neil Smith above him, either. The two had somewhat similar career arcs, in my opinion. Smith's might have gone a little higher but a little shorter.

A member of that list is currently ranked in the top 5 all time scorers in the NFL. Who is it?

I can't believe there's a list like that on CP and it doesn't list Joe Delaney. C'mon..a short career, but he's in the Chiefs HofF.

He SHOULD make a TOP 100 list.

You can nix Lowry. It was that p*ssy that led the player revolt that fired John Mackovic after the 86 season (the season we made the playoffs for the first time in 16 years) and forced Frank Gansz on us.

Useless POS.

Well, he was 10 times better than Ganz. Ganz only got the job because his special teams were the primary reason we made the playoffs in 86. They blocked a few crucial punts if i remember right?? Albert lewis was a beast at blocking punts.

They were both shitty. But certainly no reason to nix Lowery. The players hated Mackovic and Nick just happened to get elected to represent them, probably because he had been around the longest.

Rain Man

Arrr, how did I miss Burruss? He definitely should be on there.

It's hard to figure out if Delaney should be on there or not. He had a great rookie year, but there are a lot of guys who have had one good year for the Chiefs.

I'm still struggling with Grbac, too. He did some good things, but he did some bad things as well. Maybe the Pro Bowl berth allows him to get on the list, though.

Curly Culp is way too low on the list.

Guy was dominating. Even after we got rid of him.

World beater? No. But better than that faux fighter pilot? Absolutely.

Rain Man's top 100 does not have any kickoff specialists.

It's a close call, but I would nominate Jon Baker over Scott Bentley.

If only so that somebody could kick the crap outta him if he shows up for the top 100 banquet.

Rocky Rasley was destined to make the list if he had not been left exposed in the 1976 expansion draft.

Considering how the Rock could not even make the first Seahawks roster that year, that was a lose-lose situation all the way around.

I would rank Grbac ahead of Livingston.

They were very similar in career yardage for the Chiefs (Livingston: 11,295 vs. Grbac: 10,638).

Grbac was the clear leader in passer rating: 80.56 vs. 63.27. In career passer rating, Livingston ranks between such illustrious players as Steve Fuller and Todd Blackledge.

Livingston's only redeeming value was that he kept the Chief's going during their SB year while Dawson was injured. The three years he was a starter the Chiefs finished 5-9, 2-12, and 4-12.

I would probably take Livingston off the list altogether and drop Grbac in around 80-90.

Grbac doesn't need to be on the list. He crapped his shorts in his ONE playoff appearance as a Chief. If Marty hadn't been so stubborn about getting Grbac back for the playoffs (even though Gannon was 5 or 6 and 1 as a starter), we'd be talking about Gannon's place on that list.

Rainman,

Great effort. But, I think you know more its probably too big a job for any one person to do without some help.

One player I think you overlooked was Curtis McClinton. He was a fullback so doesn't have really impressive career stats, BUT he did make 3 pro bowls.

Hey Rain Man, after reviewing your list I am kind of wondering what your criteria for productivity was, I figure this was a very difficult project but I have yet to follow how some perenial All Stars of the early Chiefs ended up ranked so low?

Good points all.

I'm thinking about making this an offseason project for the Planet. I'll actually pull together stats and info on a bunch of guys, and we can use the power of polling to develop an official Chiefsplanet ranking.
