View Full Version : Anyone have a tv for sale?

My 12 year old 27" ProScan finally bit the dust (hey thanks ice storm) and i can't afford to buy a new one yet. I was hoping my old one would make it long enough for me switch to HDTV for a reasonable price but that didn't happen. I don't want to go out and spend 900 bucks on a non HDTV and have to upgrade it in a year or 2. If anyone has an old one or knows anyone who wants to get rid of a TV locally (KC area) let me know ;)
I don't like not being able to see the Playoffs, they should suspend them until i get another tv :D

I also have a TiVo with a $300 lifetime subscription for sale. My wife insists upon upgrading to Series II, so somebody is going to luck into a bargain.

Heh. Since making this posting, we convinced TiVo to transfer the lifetime subscription to the new box, so now all I have is the box - but it's for sale, too.

A much better one than 2005 nonetheless. Aren't technological advances that help us save money great?

2005 was definitely a Travis Kelce+ type year for me, despite being an incel i fell in love with a chick who went to Pitt State and was partying down there quiet a bit and had just moved out of my parents house.
Ah to be young again

Before flat screen TV's were the norm (around 2007-2008) those old sets were big and heavy. Thank God for flat screen TV's is what I say.

Man, if you've played video games on the old Sony tube HDTV you've experienced perfection.
Zero input lag, amazing picture.
It weighed 15 tons though.

Oh man, I felt this guys pain, It was a horrible time to buy a TV. You could get a top of the line tube TV that would be obsolete in a few years for peanuts. Or you could spend an absolute fortune on something that would be far cheaper in a few years. I ended up going with a JVC tube TV and that thing lasted forever. I finally gave it away when I moved in 2019.

ROFL I took a different approach and paid over 6k for a 50 in Philips plasma that was very heavy after the 04 Chiefs season . Frazod and I watched a couple games together on it. I ended up giving it away ten years later.

Does anyone know how an ice storm destroyed a TV? Did AeroSquid live outside or something?

I sold a house 6 years ago where I still had a 36 Sony WEGA tube television. When we sold the house I had it written in the contract that the TV stayed with the house. That fucking thing weighed 300 lbs. I was not moving that thing.

When we bought our house in KC (a very nice large home in fairway) I had it written in that all mounted TVs stay with the home.
The seller was going through a divorce and was a bitter dude. Was a heart surgeon so I don’t think the money mattered to him much, but when we took possession, there was a set of doors mounted high on the fireplace in the screened in porch in back, opened them and the 27” flatscreen was gone. Dude took it. Dick.

That's a nice area in there, I'm reminded of that senseless killing of the police officer a few months back. sad

Put a 85” LG OLED next to a Vizio 85” standard LED and tell me they are all the same. Nowhere close to the same.

I think that JVC was only a 32". I recall taking it out of the box and setting it down in front of the entertainment center and realizing I couldn't get it in there myself.

Well, I had a $1200 credit at Best Buy for a defective 36 in CRT television that was a lemon and was a little buzzed when I went in.
The Panasonic was even more, so I felt justified, lol. We got a lot of good use out of it and the LCDs weren't in the same ballpark yet. They have come a very long way since then
