Two American scientists are lost in the swirling maze of past and future ages, during the first experiments on America's greatest and most secret project, the Time Tunnel. Tony Newman and Doug Phillips now tumble helplessly toward a new fantastic adventure, somewhere along the infinite corridors of time.

This one-season show, produced by Irwin Allen, chronicled the adventures of two scientists, Dr. Tony Newman and Dr. Douglas Phillips. Both are working on Project TicToc, a government operation to perfect time travel. In the first episode, the impetuous Tony jumps through the untested portal and finds himself on the Titanic. Doug goes after him, and although they manage to escape before the ship goes down, the folks back home are never quite able to retrieve them.

So in each week's episode the two travellers are whisked from one setting to another (sometimes several times in the same episode) and have to survive pirates, Roman soldiers, battlefields, and the occasional invading silver-skinned alien, all while hoping the folks back at the Project find a way to get them back for good.

I liked it. One of Allen's better efforts.

How many people remember this show, one of my favorites as a kid?

I'd add "The Invaders" to that list, too.

IMHO, This was Robert Vaughn's best acting stint.

If you were a fan of The Twilight Zone, you'd enjoy Rod Serling's other series Night Gallery as he would introduce a painting and give a brief intro to the story. Here's a link. (http://www.nightgallery.net/index.html?title.html&0)

Yeah I remember most of these.

Always thought that Quantum Leap borrowed the lost time traveler concept from Time Tunnel, with an added twist or 2.

The one show that I am having trouble recalling is Search.
I recall the name, and think that it was show that I enjoyed, but I can't really remember anything about it.

If you can recall anything I'd be surprised. It was on only one season (1972-73). Had cool theme music. Go to that site I linked to, they have lots of streaming audio and video that might refresh your memory, if you're interested.

That did help a little.
If my memory serves me, an iffy proposition at best, Hugh O'Brien and Tony Franciosa(?) were the primary characters that usually were featured separately from episode to episode, and I liked Franciosa's character better.

I don't remember "The Time Tunnel" at all, then again I wasn't born yet, but did you know that it was the most expensive show on TV in 1966??? Good year by the way, England won the World Cup that year... :thumb:

This was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. They showed it on Channel 3 on the BBC once a week and I never missed an episode.

I also watched The Lone Ranger and Thunderbirds religiously.

They also show Time Tunnel at the wee hours of the morning on some DirecTV movie channel...one of the showtime's I think.

Yup, and Doug McClure was the third member of the Probe team. Burgess Meredith was head of mission control.

Nope ! I had watched a movie the night before on channel 532, woke next morning and turned on the dish, it was on. I knew right away what show it was, just unaware of it was showing.

I have gotten to watch it the last 2 days now...well most of it, I do have toopen the office at 7:00 am, but still get to see about 60 - 70 % of it.

Got lucky !
