Im a little nervous, but I have had to wear corrective lenses since age 7...

I am excited about waking up in middle of the night, and seeing the alarm clock. What a feeling that must be.

Also, it sucks when it is cold outside and the glasses fog up... yeah, Im sick of that.

so yeah, hopefully my vision is better next time we type...

If you are over / near 40 get used to reading glasses. Thats the one thing I really noticed.

BTW chi3fs,

My dad had this done not too long ago and it worked great. He said it wasn't painful at all.

Yep, it got me at 43. Presbyopia I think they call it.

Go to bed IMMEDIATELY after you get home. About 1 hour after the surgery your eyes will start to water and then become a fountain for about 2 more hours if you aren't asleep. I made this mistake and DAMN that hurt worse that the surgery.

The surgery is like having someone stick their thumb in your eye hard for 15 seconds.

My brother got it last year, he has had no problems at all, you have to take it easy the first few days, but he loves it. I think in a few years I'm going to get it done.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll be fine. Let me know how it works out. They tell me I'm a prime candidate for it too.

I was a little freaked out when opening this thread though and seeing the picture of the guy in surgery above. He looks just like me. I showed someone else too and they just said holy crap. Even when I turn my head sideways to try to see the guys face at that angle, it still looks just like me. Freaky. It must have been that alien abduction.

I hope you have good results, I am going in Tuesday for the initial exam, hope to find out this will work for me as well. Invested so much money in glasses, always having an issue with them. Good Luck! :thumb:

Ok, Since you've heard everyone rave about it I just wanted to hope all turns out well. BUT I have 2 friends who have had it done and both have had to revert back to using glasses again after a few years. Apparently it's not permanent. Don't know if both had shitty surgeons or not but they both said it's not worth the money. :hmmm:

Just the other side of the coin.

I didn't want to rain on his parade either,,my sister had it done in 2003 and she is back to wearing her contacts and said she sees less now then before. Like someone earlier said,,I guess it depends on how good the Doc is and what is wrong with your eyes. Good Luck

the opthamologist SP? had an emergency and had to leave the office after my eyes had been dialated for surgery... I have to reschedule, but get an additional $150 off of each eye... kind of a let-down, but oh well.

to be continued...

How much does this cost now?

I have been thinking about doing it as well.

I think the going rate is about $1600 per eye.

teedubya

$1499 per eye... unless your doctor has an emergency and has to leave... then it is $1349 an eye.

No way would I let some guy who left me like that sitting in a chair cut on my eyes. Maybe this was karma,,:hmmm:

Would you rather be the person with the emergency and have to wait until a non-emergency procedure was finished?

My BiL had this done this week in or near Omaha.....for around 1800 total. He is a fan so far from what I hear.

Good luck.

I had clear lens replacement in both eyes back in september/october. Turns out I had cataracts in both eyes which along with astigmatism was the reason I've worn glasses since 6th grade.

The doc put in the lenses and made relief cuts in both eyes for the astigmatism. Now I haven't worn glasses at all since the left eye healed in October. Now that the gray haze is gone I'm also seeing colours again in their true hue.
