Anybody take the plunge into sattelite radio? I have several questions that I'd be grateful if answered.

1. Which do you prefer? XM has MLB, Sirius has NFL and Stern.

2. Which receiver do you suggest?

3. How are you able to move the receiver to different places and get a signal?

4. Can I plug headphones into the receiver at work, so I can listen quietly?

5. Anybody know of any good deals out there right now?

I have a 1/2 hour commute to work, and I'm able to listen to the radio at work several hours a day, so this would seem to be a gadget I'd get lots of use from.

1. XM
2. SkyFi2 , or if you can afford it, the MyFi by Delphi
3. The SkyFi is a detachable unit. You can attach it to your car radio via aux inputs, or FM transmitter. You can buy a boombox for the home/work, or you can buy a home kit that will attach to your home stereo.
4. Yes, if you have the boombox
5. Not sure.

Also, XM is 9.99 a month, and additional units are 6.99. Keep in mind, a receiver=unit. Having a car kit and a boombox does not constitute as 2 units. ALSO, you must be near a window to use the boombox. Using it indoors with no windows around WILL NOT work, unless you get the MyFi which buffers 5 hours of music.

XM is also available online, and costs 3.99 a month if you have an XM account.

Thats all the info I have on XM. Sirius is 12.95 a month IIRC, has the NFL and Stern. XM has College football (ACC, Pac 10, big 10 so far). Sirius has college bball, i think. Either way, I don't think you will go wrong..hell, there was of a merger recently!

Oh man another thead.

1. What do you prefer?? Seems like a personal decision to me. I know I personally do not listen to NFL games on radio or listen to stern. I listen to more baseball on the radio but it wasn't a big pull for me to get XM.

2. Where you want to listen to it? XM has a new things called XM2Go where you can take it anywhere. You can carry it with you as you walk, it also comes with a car kit and a home kit for wherever you want to go.

3. Yup, plug in the headphones.

5. Nope, but I have not really looked at it.

Satilite radio no matter what the company is very worth it IMO.
