I hope this is ok here if not will a mod please move it to the DC forum. I posted it here mainly for the "Amazing Story" part. Kind of a spin off of the guy who had 9 IED's blow up around him.

Bwana if you read this I think you met this guy. He was with me when we met at the Harley shop in Billings.

Friends,

Elections were held in Iraq yesterday and were generally seen as succesfull. That said, the honeymoon is over for my unit. A lot of activity in our area of operations yesterday. One of our observation posts took a direct RPG hit yesterday wounding 11 including our Air Officer. Amazingly no one was killed and none have life threatening injuries. 5 were evacuated to Bagdad, the others are in the hospital Camp Fallujah. An amazing story occurred yesterday with one of our young Marines. He was shot twice yesterday morning on two separate occasions, he took two direct 7.62 mm bullet hits. Both hit his Kevlar Helmet and left sizeable indentations. He continued his duties. Last night he was in the room that took the direct RPG hit, he walked away with minor shrapnel wounds. One hell of a day for this young kid. If there is one day he will remember the rest of his life it is sure to be yesterday. His new nickname is “ bulletproof”. Kid was pretty happy this morning. The elections are over and it’s a step forward here but the violence will continue for a very long time.

Thanks for all of your e-mails and pictures you have been sending. Pictures are nice to receive and much appreciated. Reminds me of you all and less seedy environments.

Best wishes

George

It's not every day that you get shot in the head twice and then hit with a grenade. Three cheers for the combat veteran!

That's great, glad to hear he's ok.

Somebody should buy the dude a lottery ticket though.

What a lucky kid. Just think, he now has the right to spout off opinions about football and tell anyone who disagrees with those opinions that they're gutless cowards.

Seriously, cool story. I'm happy to see the elections go down as smoothly as they did!

I think if I were that kid I would not tell my mom those kinds of events.

They need to get him the hell out of there... Glad to hear he's OK, but geez, it sounds like he's pushing his luck. I can't help but think of the guy in Saving Private Ryan that has a bullet caught in his helmet, and then takes one in the head right after he looks at his helmet.

Yeah. buy a lottery ticket for him. Get him out of there.

Our thoughts and prayers for all our troops advancing our causes.

See if this makes the national media news. Probably not.

Holy Moly is that one lucky cat.

Its a bit unsettling to think that much shooting is happening around a single individual.

God Speed to him and his fellow soldiers.

If you speak or hear from him again, let him know how proud I am of all of the soldiers for their sacrafices, and the sacrafices of their families.

I pray each night to keep our soldiers safe. God Bless them all. :thumb:

I agree, That's really something you don't want your Mom to know about. Until you get home. :)

My brother tells mom that she shouldn't worry because he's just a landscaper and an urban beautification specialist.

I'm guessing most of the mothers are better off never knowing those kind of details.

Wow, can’t decide if your buddy should stick close to this guy or stay the hell away from him. He seems to be a hostile fire magnet.

Here’s to his remaining lucky. :toast:

I am going to try and put together a care package to send over. Originally I was just going to send my buddy some biker magazines. But now I want to send stuff for he and "his Marines".
