View Full Version : I'm a crack dealing felon

KC Jones

I just accepted a position in Colorado and my last day of employment here is Feb. 11th. My first day at the new job is Feb. 21st.

Today I get a call from my recruiter that I better call the HR rep at the company because something big came up in my background search. So I call the rep and she tells me my criminal search came back positive for a crack cocaine distribution felony. I was apparently arrested in Indiana in 2002 and I'm an african american (despite being white in reality and having never lived in Indiana). So now everything is on hold while they sort this crap out :(

At least I haven't made an offer on a house yet.

Oh well... I was thinking of a bigger career change than just changing companies anyway. Does anyone need some crack?

Crackwhore.

You're hired! I'm afraid the operation is starting small since I don't yet have any crack or know how to get any, but I'll get all that sorted out and pay you later.

Denver - I'll be working in the tech center (at least I think I will be once this gets cleared up).

As for the expunging - that sounds like Jenny's department.

Suprise?

I've been reading your posts in "LL Cool J" for years. I've always thought you were a non-honkey.

They'll sort it out..........maybe you should legally change your name to something less common like "fantasia Finklestein"

Those who they can't find a way to charge with a felony will have one anyway by default. Better get ready to hand over your guns.

can you sue the people who told them that?

Probably not. If I understand America's legal system it works like this:

1) If someone else makes a huge mistake that causes you to lose money, or a job, or some other form of suffering, you can't sue them.

2) If you do something stupid to yourself such as pour hot coffee all over yourself you can sue the bejesus out of someone for arming you with hot coffee.

I'm sure some of the Planet's lawyers will be along soon to provide the latin verbage describing these concepts.

Maybe they made the charges up because they are under the assumption that you'd have to be on crack to want to live around a bunch of donkey fans.

How hard could it be to find crack? Is there a high school nearby?

It's in Colorado. He'll need to find a Jr. High.

Or maybe a daycare.

well it could be a defamation case, if you can sue somebody over giving a bad reference to somebody that used to work for you, you should be able to sue for this, if he doesn't get the job afterall.

Welcome to Colorado once you get out, KC.

Indiana is just a state of criminals, I think. There's a guy in Indiana with my same first name, last name, and middle initial, and he runs one of those "vacation clubs" that is apparently a huge ripoff. He made a minor marketing push in Denver several years back, which was not pleasing to me, especially since my name was in the phone book. Last I heard, he was under investigation by the feds.

UPDATE:

I'm no longer a crack dealing felon.

You cannot believe the absolute torture this put me through. In the beginning it was funny (and still is), but as my last date of employment loomed, it quickly became a serious matter. It's one thing for me to joke about it with friends and co-workers, but the background check company actually started having fun with it too. The woman who was in charge of my reinvestigation is a sadistic bitch. I was dying to tell her off, but she was literally holding my fate in her hands.

Now that it's all been cleared up I will be sending a formal complaint to her company detailing her behavior. I can't say that I hope she gets fired, but I hope they make sure nobody else is treated like that again.
