Is it just me or does anyone else think that the SB commercials have, for the most part, gotten pretty lame?

*The Diet Pepsi ones - kinda dumb, especially after seeing it 10 times

*The Bud one with all the animals - yawn

*Mustang one - lame

I could go on and on.

A couple were kinda funny:

*The monkey kissing the bosses butt made me chuckle

*The Bud Light one in the plane was kinda funny

*Even the the mistaken convenience store robbery was a mildly humorous

The most funny one to me was the dude with the knife in one hand and the cat in the other with tomato sauce all over the place.

I liked the Pilot jumping out of the plane for the Bud Light, the monkeys, the fed ex with the bear and Burt Reynolds, the MC hammer one, the cell phone chat getting mistaken for a robbery and getting maced, holding the cat with knife when the wife walks in, the troops getting a standing O in the airport. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who noticed that. I thought the ad started out great, but then every other face they showed was female.

Now, I've got nothing against women serving in the military, or acknowledging that many women serve in Iraq (and some have died there) or honoring their service. But I'm pretty sure they don't make up 50 percent of the armed forces. I felt that A-B maybe was trying to make a PC point. Or were they scared they would get criticized if they showed only a couple of women?

Actually, I thought they probably didn't have enough BLACK faces. I can only remember one or two.

Dallas, Texas: Any idea why beer commercials have stopped branding themselves at all and just go for the cheap joke (that most of the time has nothing to do with beer)?

Bob Garfield: If you sold Bud Light and your choice was to talk about flavor or the lifestyle/preoccupations of the target consumer, which would YOU choose?

I had exactly the same observation. I'll bet they had some drone worker who was told, "Make this demographically appropriate." Not thinking beyond the obvious, they looked at the U.S. population instead of the military population and made half the soldiers female, 12 percent African American, and 12 percent Hispanic. I'll bet if you look close enough, they probably had one soldier who 25 percent Native American, since that population wasn't big enough to warrant a full soldier.

For some reason, MI tends to draw some really good looking young ladies though as well as pretty smart ones. Plus, they have to stay in shape, meet weight requirements, etc.
