The Beatles changed all that, and the mainstream public accepted it-and they paved the way for a tremendous amout of music that probably would have never been heard, much less created.
I personally, thought it was the best halftime show ever, and I was in the company of quite a few twenty-somethings that totally agreed.
Most people that would regard Sir Paul as a mindless pop icon consider someone like Lyndard Skynard as a legend, but even they regard the Beatles as one of the most crucial links to their success.
